The Shield made their debut on the main roster at the 2012 Survivor Series when they attacked Ryback during the Triple Threat Match between him, John Cena, and CM Punk for the WWE Championship and did their triple powerbomb on him through an announcers table, then became CM Punk's enforcers for a while.

It was at the 2013 Extreme Rules Pay Per View that Dean Ambrose beat Kofi Kingston for the United States Championship, and Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns defeated Team Hell No (Daniel Bryan and Kane) for the WWE World Tag Team Championship.

At one point The Shield turned on CM Punk after being his enforcers for some time and became enforcers for The Authority. Then in a challenge, Kane, whom had become the Director of Operations for The Authority, put CM Punk in a match against The Shield, in which he won when there was confusion amongst The Shield leading to "cracks" in their armor. That same night, Daniel Bryan was in his own 3-on-1 match against The Wyatt Family, which he lost after a valiant effort.

Kane came out with The Shield on the March 17, 2014 episode of Raw and accused Jerry Lawler of something and demanded Lawler enter the ring for his punishment. However, instead they all turned away from Lawler and attacked Kane.

After The Shield stopped Triple H from taking the WWE World Heavyweight Championship from Daniel Bryan the day after Wrestlemania 30, Triple H, after explaining the situation to Randy Orton and Batista, reunited as their old faction, Evolution, and challenged The Shield to two epic matches at both Pay Per Views, losing both times.

Answer: Rollins betrayed Ambrose and Reigns

After the 2014 Payback Pay Per View, Batista quit Evolution and The Authority managed to convince Seth Rollins to betray The Shield and join The Authority, thus breaking up The Shield for over three years.

At the 2015 Payback Pay Per View, all three members were in a Fatal Four-Way Match with Randy Orton for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship (which Seth Rollins held at the time). They did suddenly gang up on Randy to beat him down then did their Power Bomb to him through one of the announce tables.

Then Seth put out a fist, but neither Roman or Dean wanted any of that. After all, he was a heel who had betrayed them not even a year prior. The second one was at the 2016 Survivor Series Pay Per View. Rollins and Reigns were on Team Raw, and Ambrose was on Team Smackdown alongside AJ Styles, whom he was feuding with at the time. Nevertheless, after being eliminated, he helped Reigns and Rollins put AJ Styles through an announce table with their Power Bomb before leaving.

Answer: Kurt Angle

Due to Roman Reigns (and a couple of other superstars on the roster) coming down with Viral Menengitis just before the 2017 Tables Ladders and Chairs Pay Per View, Kurt Angle, in his first match in over eleven years, took his place. Triple H did replace Roman for a house show in England a few days later.

In an interbrand 6-Man Tag Team Match, The Shield, representing Raw, faced The New Day, whom represented Smackdown Live. In a grueling match, The Shield would perform their signature Shield Triple Power Bomb to Kofi Kingston off the second turnbuckle for the win.
