A boutonniere is a solitary flower that would be pushed through a vacant buttonhole rather than be pinned. Typically speaking, a boutonniere would be either a red rose or carnation. Boutonnieres are only usually worn on very formal occasions like proms and weddings. On other occasions, the boutonniere is usually replaced by a lapel pin or nothing at all.

An oxford is a formal leather shoe that is usually black or brown. The most prominent feature of an oxford is that fact that most of the shoelaces are hidden, specifically the eyelet holes the laces wind through. Nowadays, the oxford is made of fake leather rather than real leather.

Brogueing, the decorative pattern seen sometimes on men's shoes, is most commonly seen on the toe caps in the form of small holes that form a shape or pattern. Other kinds of brogueing include decorative stitching. Typically, most brogueing does not add any extra material to the shoe.

Alternatively known as vests, waistcoats are meant to be worn over a dress shirt and under a jacket. They are sleeveless garments and are part of the traditional three-piece suit.
