Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. What was the name of the walled city where Joshua and the Israelites marched around for seven days?

Answer: Jericho

Jericho's walls were so strong and high, no one could conquer them. God told Joshua and the Israelites to march around the city once a day for six days without making a sound. Then on the seventh day, God told the Israelites to march around the city seven times and give a shout.

They yelled so loud the walls fell down! God gave the Israelites the victory over the city and gave them the promised land for a new home. (Joshua 6:1-27)
2. What country did Moses and the Israelites leave, after God sent plagues to Pharaoh?

Answer: Egypt

The Israelites were slaves for over 400 years in Egypt. They cried out to God for mercy because Pharaoh made them do hard work and killed their children. God sent plagues and Moses to tell Pharaoh to let his people go, but Pharaoh would not listen.

Finally God killed all the firstborn and Pharaoh told Moses to get out! He changed his mind and chased after them. However God made a way for the Israelites to escape through the Red Sea. When the Egyptian army tried to go after the Israelites, the sea closed up on them. God protected his people. (Exodus 8-15)
3. In which Italian city was Paul imprisoned before he gave his life for the gospel?

Answer: Rome

Paul was imprisoned in Rome for trying to tell people about Christ. He wrote many letters, known as epistles, to encourage churches. These became books in the New Testament.

Paul wrote to the Roman church while he was imprisoned, encouraging them by saying, "And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose." (Romans 8:28, NIV)
4. Which of these was the home Abraham left, to travel to a land that God would show him?

Answer: Ur

God spoke to Abraham while he lived in Ur and told him, "Go from your country, your people and your father's household to the land I will show you. I will make you into a great nation, and I will bless you; I will make your name great, and you will be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse; and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you." (Genesis 12:1-3, NIV)

Abraham gathered his father, his wife, his servants, and his nephew Lot. They set out to go to where God showed him.
5. Where did Jesus meet the woman at the well?

Answer: Samaria

In the middle of a hot day, Jesus was tired and sat down by a well in Samaria. He asked a Samaritan woman for water and she was confused that he would speak to her.

"Jesus answered her, "If you knew the gift of God and who it is that asks you for a drink, you would have asked him and he would have given you living water." (John 4:10, NIV)

The lady had many difficult things she was dealing with in life. She told Jesus that one day the Messiah would come and make everything better. Jesus told her that he was the Messiah.

"Jesus answered, "Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life." (John 4:13-14, NIV)
6. Which of these Biblical places was the city where believers of Christ were first called Christians?

Answer: Antioch

In Acts 11, Paul and Barnabas were teaching and doing so many miracles, people were amazed. People started calling them Christians because they believed in Christ.

"When he found him, he brought him back to Antioch. Both of them stayed there with the church for a full year, teaching large crowds of people. It was at Antioch that the believers were first called Christians."(Acts 11:26,NLT)

Everywhere Paul went he told people the story of Jesus.
7. Who pitched his tents towards Sodom and Gomorrah, two cities that were destroyed with fire?

Answer: Lot

Abraham and Lot lived together until their shepherds started fighting. Abraham decided that it was best that they separate.

Lot put his tents near Sodom and Gomorrah because there were green fields for his sheep. However he soon moved inside the cities with his family.

When God told Abraham that he was going to destroy the city, Abraham begged for his nephew to be saved. Angels came to the city and dragged Lot out. They told Lot and his family not to look back. His wife looked back and turned into a pillar of salt. (Genesis 19)
8. What was the name of the beautiful garden Adam and Eve lived in?

Answer: Eden

God made the garden of Eden for Adam and Eve to live in. "Then the Lord God planted a garden in Eden in the east, and there he placed the man he had made. The Lord God made all sorts of trees grow up from the ground-trees that were beautiful and that produced delicious fruit. In the middle of the garden he placed the tree of life and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil." (Genesis 2:8-9, NLT)

Adam and Eve were able to name all the animals and eat from anything they desired, as long as they didn't eat from the tree of knowledge of good and evil. "The Lord God placed the man in the Garden of Eden to tend and watch over it. But the Lord God warned him, "You may freely eat the fruit of every tree in the garden- except the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. If you eat its fruit, you are sure to die." (Genesis 2:15-17, NLT)

Unfortunately, Adam and Eve ate of the tree they were told not to touch. "The woman was convinced. She saw that the tree was beautiful and its fruit looked delicious, and she wanted the wisdom it would give her. So she took some of the fruit and ate it. Then she gave some to her husband, who was with her, and he ate it, too." (Genesis 3:6, NLT)

They had to leave the garden and God placed a guard to make sure they never returned.

"So the LORD God banished them from the Garden of Eden, and he sent Adam out to cultivate the ground from which he had been made. After sending them out, the Lord God stationed mighty cherubim to the east of the Garden of Eden. And he placed a flaming sword that flashed back and forth to guard the way to the tree of life" (Genesis 3:23, NLT)
9. Where did Moses receive the ten commandments?

Answer: Mount Sinai

God called Moses up on Mt. Sinai and gave Moses the ten commandments. He promised Moses in Exodus 19:4-6 (NIV), "You yourselves have seen what I did to Egypt, and how I carried you on eagles' wings and brought you to myself. Now if you obey me fully and keep my covenant, then out of all nations you will be my treasured possession. Although the whole earth is mine, you will be for me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation."

Moses wrote the ten commandments out on stone and placed them in the ark of the covenant. They were a reminder to Israel that if they honored God, He would always be with them. (Exodus 19, 20)
10. What is the name of city where Jesus was crucified?

Answer: Jerusalem

Jesus was crucified in Jerusalem.

"So they took Jesus away. Carrying the cross by himself, he went to the place called Place of the Skull (in Hebrew, Golgotha). There they nailed him to the cross. Two others were crucified with him, one on either side, with Jesus between them. And Pilate posted a sign on the cross that read, 'Jesus of Nazareth,[a] the King of the Jews.'" (John 19:16-19, NLT)

The death of Jesus was recorded in Matthew 27:32-56, Mark 15:21-38, Luke 23:26-49, and John 19:16-37.

Jesus returned three days later to his disciples and Mary, alive and well. (John 20)

John said, "For this is how God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life." (John 3:16, NLT)
