Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. One of Milne's most delightful poems is DISOBEDIENCE, which tells of a little boy's plea to his mother, to "never go down to the end of the town", without him. What is the little boy's first name?

Answer: James

His full name is James James Morrison Morrison Weatherby George Dupree.
Many of Milne's poems are very rhythmical, and this is one of the best - great to read aloud. The poem is exciting, with even King John, the Queen and Prince, getting into the action. The poem ends with James' famous plea, "You-must-never-go-down-to-the-end-of-the-town-if-you-don't-go-down-with-ME!"
2. As we enter the world of Winnie-the-Pooh and his friends, we find that that they live where?

Answer: A forest, called the "100 AKER WOOD"

Many wonderful places for adventure were to be found in the wood, as well as the houses of Pooh and his friends. Christopher Robin drew a map, and "Mr. Shepard helped".
3. Only two characters in the Pooh books wore clothes. One, of course was Christopher Robin, the other was Pooh's best friend, who wore what looked like a striped T-shirt or onesy. Who was he?

Answer: Piglet

The characters of Pooh and his friends were based om the toys of Milne's real life son, Christopher Robin. These tales were a wonderful gift to Milne's son and to the world.
4. Christopher Robin didn't spend all of this time with Pooh and friends, sometimes his nanny, Alice would take him places. One great poem grew from these excursions. Alice took Christopher to see the changing of the guard - where did she take him to see this?

Answer: Buckingham Palace

"Buckingham Palace" became a favorite of many, when it was featured a lot on the "Captain Kangaroo Show", set to music. As usual, it is very rhythmical and fun to read or sing. Each of the six stanzas ends with, "Says Alice". as in the first:

"They're changing guard at Buckingham Palace-
Christopher Robin went down with Alice
Alice is marrying one of the guard
'A soldier's life is terrible hard'
Says Alice."
5. Winnie-the-Pooh just loved to eat, as shown in his plump little tummy. What was his favorite food?

Answer: Honey

In one story, Pooh (also called Edward Bear), went to visit his friend, Rabbit.
Rabbit wouldn't answer the door, so Pooh tried to crawl in the rabbit hole and got stuck! Rabbit said, "It all comes from eating too much".

Winnie-the-Pooh spelled his favorite food "Hunny".
6. Christopher Robin, the boy, took good care of his friends in the 100 Acre Wood. Whenever Pooh got himself in trouble, the boy had an affectionate phrase he would say. What was it?

Answer: "Silly old Bear"

Sometimes the boy had to go to a lot of trouble to help Pooh out of a scrape, such as the time Pooh got stuck and the boy and other friends of Pooh had to rescue him from Rabbit's hole. You can imagine the boy saying the phrase to himself with a slight smile on his face, showing his love.
7. The residents of the wood believed there were wild animals living there, too. Pooh and Piglet, in two stories, went hunting for two kinds. What did they try to catch?

Answer: A Woozle and a Heffalump

The two friends had a great interest in catching these creatures but, for real reasons, they failed. It makes interesting reading for you to find out why they failed.
8. One night Pooh was awakened in the night by a strange sound. He went outside and found a strange but friendly animal. When introduced, Eeyore called him "your stripey friend". Who do you think the newcomer was?

Answer: Tigger

Although Tigger came in the night, Pooh and the others welcomed him as a friend. They tried different food to offer him, but Tigger didn't like anything, not even honey. They found what he liked at Kanga and little Roo's house, so after that, Tigger lived with them.
9. There was one thing that Tigger loved to do, that the other animals didn't. Although he didn't wear springs on his feet, he could still do it. What did Tigger like to do?

Answer: Bounce

One day the animals thought Tigger was getting too bouncy, so they tried to unbounce him. In the process, Rabbit got lost. He was frightened, but when Tigger found him Rabbit had changed his mind about changing Tigger. He was "A Tigger who bounced. if he bounced at all, in just the beautiful way a Tigger ought to bounce".

"Oh, Tigger, I am glad to see you," cried Rabbit.
10. One of Pooh's most memorable friends was the "Old Grey Donkey" who always seemed rather sad and blue. One time he was sad because he lost his tail. Still, his friends loved him. What was the donkey's name?

Answer: Eeyore

The tail was found at the tree house of Owl and restored by Christopher Robin, who nailed it back on, (ouch)!

The essence of Eeyore has been captured in this poem:

One awesome thing about Eeyore is that

Even though he is basically clinically depressed

He still gets invited to participate in

In adventures and shenanigans

With all of his friends. And they

Never expect him to pretend

To feel happy, they just love

Him anyway, and they

Never leave him behind

Or ask him to change.
