Columbus is the state capitol of Ohio and was home to the Columbus Blue Jackets of the NHL. Columbus is also home to the Ohio State Buckeyes. The city was founded in 1812 and named after Christopher Columbus. It has been the capitol of Ohio, which is called the Buckeye State, since it became a state in 1803.

The Dolphins played football and the Heat played basketball in Miami, Florida. Miami was also the home to MLB's Marlins, the NHL's Florida Panthers, and the college football team University of Miami Hurricanes. The Colorado River is the river that flows through the Grand Canyon. The Yukon River flows through Alaska and Canada. Washington, D.C. is located on the Potomac River.

The Nuggets, Rockies, Avalanche and Broncos all played in Denver, Colorado. It's called the Mile High City because it is located about one mile or 5,280 feet above sea level. The Windy City is Chicago, Illinois. New Orleans, Louisiana is called the Big Easy. The City by the Bay is San Francisco, California.

The Seahawks and Mariners played in Seattle, Washington. Washington is the state that borders Canada, so it is in the north. It also is bordered by the Pacific Ocean which is the western border of the lower 48 states. This makes Washington in the northwest. Florida is the state that is in the opposite corner of the USA.

Since Texas is located to the West of Georgia, I would have needed to travel toward the east to get to Georgia. I would have to leave Texas and travel through Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama and then into Georgia.
