Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Who is the founder of Elwood City?

Answer: Jacob Katzenellenbogan

Jacob Katzenellenbogan, a lumber tycoon, founded Elwood City is 1903. This is the first time we learn the history of Elwood City and its founder Mr. Katzenellenbogan. Jacob seems like a bitter old man who is upset with the name of the city and the statue that was built of him.
2. Elwood City was founded in what year?

Answer: 1903

Elwood City was founded in 1903, meaning that the latest episode was designed to be shown in 2003 to go along with it's centennial theme.
3. Who declared the area known as Elwood an official city?

Answer: Theodore Roosevelt

It was good ole Teddy, the 26th president of the United States. J.P. Morgan and Henry Ford were both at the ceremony, but they were only there to dedicate the statue of Jacob Katzenellenbogan.
4. Of the following, which wasn't sitting on the sofa while Arthur was trying to sing?

Answer: Timmy Tibble

Timmy Tibble wasn't sitting on the sofa. He sat on the floor, while Pal, D.W. Tommy and Vicita were all sitting on the couch playing "Confuse the Goose." Too bad they had to listen to Arthur's horrible singing.
5. Who is the first listed name on Muffy's sheet for the opening night party?

Answer: Michelle Kwan

Figure skater Michelle Kwan was listed first. Michelle, a former student of Lakewood, was on an earlier episode of Arthur. Yo-Yo Ma, Mr. Rogers, Alex Lebeck, Marc Brown, Jeremy O'Neill were all also invited. Yo-Yo Ma, Mr. Rogers and Alex Lebeck have all made special guest apperances in the show and Marc Brown of course is the famous writer of the "Arthur" books.
6. What was the name of the preformance given by Mr. Ratburn's class to celebrate Elwood City?

Answer: "Oh, Elwood"

"Oh, Elwood" was written by The Brain, directed by Buster and performed by Mr. Ratburn's class.
7. At the end of the first number, what is The Brain's final line?

Answer: "Darn bureaucracy!"

The Brain first says, "But I wanted it to be called Elmwood," the finishes with "Darn bureaucracy." So much wuss over the town's name.
8. The flying saucer scene was supposed to be what number?

Answer: The third number

The flying saucer scene was supposed to be the third number. The opening scene with Jacob was the first number. The second scene was of Fern at the green-tailed grebe and the fourth scene was of Francine singing.
9. Which of these isn't associated with the alien during the flying saucer scene?

Answer: He's from the planet Corncob.

Buster, fearing the scene was putting the audience to sleep, rushes onto the stage with a towel, umbrella and sponge on. He becomes the famous alien, Dr. Ector, and sings about flossing to tune of "Yankee Doodle." He's from the planet Korn, not Corncob.
10. What famous talk show host is feature in the middle segment, "And now a word from us..."

Answer: Larry King

Famous talk show host Larry King joins the many special guests that have been featured in the cartoon "Arthur." My favorite part was when he was interviewing D.W.
