Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. As an otherwise generic household pet, what common household pet does Gary bear the most resemblance to?

Answer: Cat

Gary communicates with 'meow!' most of the time, purrs, and enjoys snail food which looks aesthetically similar to typical cat food. Considering that other snails tend to be like this in the show, it is clear that Gary is the show's version of a cat.
2. In one episode, Gary briefly ditches SpongeBob in favor of Patrick. What of Patrick's does Gary actually want?

Answer: A cookie

Gary turned out not to care for Patrick as an owner, but for something Patrick had. Gary just wanted the cookie hidden in Patrick's pants pocket. After obtaining this, Gary promptly returns to SpongeBob.
3. As a household pet, is Gary capable of speaking actual comprehensible words?

Answer: Yes

Gary has spoken actual words in several different episodes. In "Secret Box", Gary answers SpongeBob's numerous questions with "Meow-no" and "Meow-yes." In "The SpongeBob Movie," when Gary is brainwashed by Plankton, Plankton is able to force him to say "Meow-hail Plankton" over and over again, proving Gary is capable of doing so.
4. SpongeBob's meager earnings at the Krusty Krab apparently aren't enough to support himself, so Gary helps him out a bit. What does Gary pay for?

Answer: The electric bill

In "Jellyfish Hunter," SpongeBob reveals that Gary is responsible for paying their electric bill. How Gary is able to do this without actually working or acquiring any source of income is questionable, however.
5. In "Sleepy Time," SpongeBob visits Gary in his dream world. What is Gary dreaming about here?

Answer: Being a librarian

Gary turns into somewhat of an anthropomorphic snail of some kind, and is highly intelligent. He is able to speak freely without need of meowing. While SpongeBob is around, Gary lectures him about various things and begins to read him a poem out of one of his books.
6. Apparently, Gary is quite the magician. Which act of magic is Gary capable of?

Answer: Levitating and teleporting

In "Gary Takes a Bath," Gary teleports and levitates numerous times to resist SpongeBob's efforts to force him to take a bath. In "Have You Seen This Snail?" Gary is once again able to levitate out of SpongeBob's house, and teleports to Bass Vegas as he attempts to run away.
7. Gary is notably able to do one thing that SpongeBob has been unable to do since the show came into existence. What is this one thing?

Answer: Drive a boat

In "Tutor Sauce," Gary is able to functionally drive a boat around with no real problems. He is even able to do this through incredibly dangerous roads in Bikini Bottom without any troubles. This is despite the fact that Gary has no legs with which to hold down the gas or brakes, nor does he have arms with which to handle a steering wheel. What's your excuse, SpongeBob?
8. Another one of Gary's unique talents makes even Squidward jealous. What talent is this?

Answer: Playing instruments

In "Procrastination," Gary briefly plays the trumpet quite functionally. In "The Paper," Gary literally takes Squidward's clarinet and plays it better than Squidward ever could. In "Something Smells," Gary is able to play a complex series of notes on the violin as background music for when SpongeBob cries, cutting an onion.
9. Which character in the show is Gary's cousin?

Answer: Patrick

In "Rule of Dumb," it is revealed that Sluggo is the uncle of both Patrick and Gary, thereby making Gary Patrick's cousin. This also means Gary is a direct descendant of royalty.
10. Which of the following is a claim that only Gary himself can make as unique amongst the show's ten main characters?

Answer: Gary has never been arrested before

Even SpongeBob and Patrick have run into trouble with the law. Plankton and Mr Krabs sure have, while Squidward has seen jail time himself. Out of all ten characters, only Gary has been a genuinely law-abiding citizen the whole time.
