Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Who in the circus wears a lot of make up and makes us laugh?

Answer: Clown

Herschel Shmoikel Pinchas Yerucham Krustofsky is a very well known clown, but we know him as Krusty the Clown fron "The Simpsons." He is very different to Charlie Cairoli and other clowns from when I was a kid.
2. Who would we expect to find living in a monastery?

Answer: Monk

As the number of new recruits drops, many monasteries in the UK are being sold off as it is not economically viable to maintain them. In 2004, the Roman Catholic church attracted just 12 new monks in UK.
3. What type of animal are Simba and Aslan?

Answer: Lion

Simba was the child of Mufasa and Sarabi in Disney movie "The Lion King" who with the help of friends Timon, Pumbaa, Nala and Rafiki becomes king while Aslan was the Great Lion in "The Chronicles of Narnia" series of books by C.S. Lewis.
4. Which illusionist and magician, first name Criss, asks "Are you ready?"

Answer: Angel

Criss Angel is famous for his "Mindfreak" TV and stage show, in which he walked on water, made a full size Lamborghini disappear and was run over by a steamroller while lying on a bed of broken glass. Do NOT try this at home guys!
5. Manx, Siamese and ragdoll are all breeds of which animal?

Answer: Cat

Manx cats originated on the Isle of Man and have a genetic mutation resulting in just a stub of a tail. Siamese are originally from Thailand (Siam) and are very affectionate even a little needy. Ragdolls were developed in the USA and are often called "puppy cats" due to their tendency to follow people around, even when they are adults.
6. In America it's called an apartment but what is it called in the UK?

Answer: Flat

Apartments or flats have been with us for many years. In ancient Rome, they were called insulae and provided housing for lower class Romans above shops.
7. The right one is bigger than the left one, because the left one shares space with the heart. Which respiratory organ is this?

Answer: Lung

The lungs take oxygen from the atmosphere and release it into the bloodstream and take carbon dioxide from the bloodstream and release it into the atmosphere.
8. The rapper Pitbull has worked with T-Pain, Enrique Iglesias and Usher as well as many others, but what type of animal is a pit bull?

Answer: Dog

Pitbull had a huge worldwide hit with "Timber" featuring Ke$ha. President Theodore Roosevelt owned a pit bull terrier called Pete but as far as we know, he never had a pet rapper.
9. In fairy tales, what type of young girl is often in distress?

Answer: Damsel

Rapunzel, Snow White and Sleeping Beauty are just some of the poor helpless girls that needed a handsome prince to come to their rescue. I prefer the attitude of Daphne in "Scooby-Doo" who liked to fight her own battles and once said, "I've had it with his damsel in distress thing!"
10. Which word follows all the words in the answers to the previous questions to get the common bond?

Answer: Fish

All are types of fish. Nemo from "Finding Nemo" is a CLOWNFISH. MONKFISH are large, flat, ugly-looking things with a lot of teeth, LIONFISH have lots of spiky venomous fins but apparently are delicious to eat (perhaps best to let somebody else catch them though!). ANGELFISH are found in the Amazon basin and can be aggressive and eat smaller fish. Most CATFISH have barbels that look like a cats' whiskers.

It is a popular food, especially covered in cornmeal and fried. FLATFISH is an order of fish that includes halibut, sole and plaice, all very good to eat. LUNGFISH are so called because of their ability to survive in very low levels of water by breathing air. Also known as a bowfin, DOGFISH can be found in USA and southern Canada, especially in the Great Lakes area. Finally, DAMSELFISH are very brightly coloured and live in temperate waters such as the Gulf of Mexico.
