Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. You may have seen me on a farm, and my woolly coat is used to make clothes. My baby is called a lamb. What cuddly animal am I?

Answer: Sheep

This toy sheep is called Henry. He has been hugged so much that all his stuffing has gone into his rear end, so he has a very thin tummy and an enormous bottom.
2. I'm not very cuddly at all, and have lots of sharp teeth! I like to hide in the water when I'm looking for my lunch, and I look a bit like an old log when I'm not moving. What animal am I?

Answer: Crocodile

This toy crocodile is called Pinky, because he likes nibbling at little fingers, but what he likes best is caramel wafers. Perhaps he's not very cuddly, but he is very friendly.
3. I'm just a big cat, and you might know who I am because of my orange and black stripes. I usually live in the jungle, in countries like India and China. What animal am I?

Answer: Tiger

This toy tiger is called Tiggy. Real tigers are sadly getting rare in the wild, because their jungle homes are being cut down. Don't get too close to a tiger, because it might try to eat you!
4. I'm a very brightly coloured pink bird, with long legs and a long neck. I like to paddle in lakes, where I can fish for shrimp, which are my favourite food. What bird am I?

Answer: Flamingo

This toy flamingo is called Florence. Real flamingos are a bright pink colour because of all the pink shrimp that they eat. They can be found in lots of parts of the world, including Africa, Asia and South America.
5. I'm a common farm animal, and I am very useful, as I provide milk for you to drink, meat (beef) for you to eat and skin (leather) to make your shoes with. What animal am I?

Answer: Cow

This toy cow is called Olive. She is a black-and-white Friesian cow, which is the sort you will see most often on farms in America and Europe. That's a yellow flower you can see in her mouth - I think it might be a buttercup.
6. I'm a big grey animal with large ears and a long nose that is called a trunk. In fact, when I am grown up I am the heaviest animal that lives on the land. What am I?

Answer: Elephant

This toy elephant is called Trumpers. I think he must be a baby elephant, because he is not very big at all. Real elephants come from Africa and India.
7. People don't usually like to see me around their houses, since they say I am dirty and carry diseases that make people ill. But I can make a clever and friendly pet if you keep me as a baby and look after me well. What animal am I?

Answer: Rat

This toy rat is called Ratty - I think we must have run out of interesting names! Wild rats are not very nice to have around, as they eat all sorts of rubbish and leave a lot of mess if they get into your house.
8. I'm a small black-and-white bird, but as you can see I have a big brightly-coloured beak! I can swim and like to eat fish, and I make my nest in a hole in the ground like a rabbit. What funny bird am I?

Answer: Puffin

This little puffin is called Billy. He comes from the island of Lundy, which means "Puffin Island". Puffins look a little bit like small penguins, although they can fly as well as swim.
9. I'm a big animal with a very wide mouth and large teeth. I like to wallow in the water during the day, although I come onto the land to eat grass, which is my main food.

Answer: Hippopotamus

This toy hippopotamus is called Humphrey. A fully grown hippopotamus is too large to swim properly, although baby ones are able to swim by kicking their legs, just like you would. The name hippopotamus means "river horse", although you may think they don't look very much like horses.
10. I'm one of the most popular soft toy animals, and most children have at least one of me at home! I often appear as a character in children's stories; Winnie-the-Pooh and Paddington are both members of my family!

Answer: Bear

This toy bear is called Big Bear, because he is quite large. I am sure that most of you who have played this quiz have a teddy bear of your own.
