He started many programs to help get the United States out of the Great Depression, and was also President during all of World War II.

After his death, a constitution amendment was passed so that no one could be elected President more than twice (8 years).

John F. Kennedy was elected 35th President of the United States in 1960. He served from January 20, 1961 until November 22, 1963 when he was shot and killed in Dallas, Texas. He was responsible for putting the U.S. on a course to have astronauts land on the moon by the end of the 1960s. One of the things he did that didn't work was to allow a secret attack of Cuba in 1961 called The Bay of Pigs invasion, which was a failure.

He did however stand tall in 1962 when Russia tried to put nuclear missiles in Cuba and the U.S. and Russia almost had a war because of it. Russia removed its missiles after the U.S. blocked the sea passages into Cuba. Mr. Kennedy's time in office was cut short since he was shot in 1963.

This was called the Watergate Scandal. President Nixon did do some good things, though. He ended the U.S. involvement in Vietnam, he normalized relations between the U.S. and China when he visited there in 1972, and he increased Social Security payments to senior citizens.
9. Which President was a famous movie actor before entering politics?

Answer: Ronald Reagan

10. Which of the following was the President of the United States when the September 11 attacks occured in 2001?

Answer: George W. Bush

George W. Bush was the 43rd President of the United States, serving from January 20, 2001, to January 20, 2009. Bush was elected President even though his opponent, Al Gore, had over 500,000 more votes than Bush. This was due to the U.S. election system which counts electoral votes to secure the presidency. President Bush was in office when the September 11 attack on the United States took place.

He started what he called a "global war on terrorism" and ordered attacks on Afghanistan and later Iraq, to seek out terrorists.

He also was responsible for the removal by force of Iraq's Saddam Hussein.
