Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. After Harry wakes up with the scar on his forehead burning and hurting, which of the following does he send a letter to?

Answer: Sirius

Harry sends a letter to Sirius, his godfather, telling him that his scar is hurting. The last time Harry's scar had started hurting was because Lord Voldemort had been at Hogwarts. Harry had thought about writing to both Dumbledore and Ron, but decided to write to Sirius, instead.
2. Dudley Dursley, Harry's obnoxious muggle cousin, has been even more whiny and ill-tempered than usual, because he is on a strict diet to lose weight.

Answer: True

Dudley, Harry's muggle cousin, has always been a very large, greedy boy. Now he is approximately the size of a baby whale. He is so huge that the school outfitters do not have any knickerbockers big enough to fit him. Dudley has been on a very strict diet all summer. To make her darling son feel better, Mrs. Dursley insists that the whole family follow the diet, too. Do you remember in the first book, "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone" that Dudley did sprout a pig tail courtesy of Hagrid?
3. What happens to Dudley after he eats one of the toffees that drops out of Fred Weasley's pocket?

Answer: His tongue turns purple and ultimately grows until it's four feet long.

This is so funny! Dudley can not resist snatching up one of the brightly colored toffees and popping it into his mouth, but it is no ordinary sweet. It is a Ton Tongue toffee developed by Fred and George Weasley. Dudley's tongue turns purple and grows and grows until it's a foot long, before the Weasley boys leave the Dursley house. Later, they learn that Dudley's tongue reached four-feet long before his parents allowed Mr. Weasley to shrink it.

It's no more than the greedy boy deserves, but he is soon put to rights by Mr. Weasley.
4. Which of the following methods is used to transport Harry, Ron, Fred, George, Ginny, Hermione, and Mr. Weasley to the site of the Quidditch World Cup?

Answer: Portkey

A portkey is an object that wizards and witches used to transport themselves from one place to another at a prearranged time. Portkeys are disguised as objects that are not likely to be carried off by muggles. The portkey used by Harry and his friends looked like an old boot. Each of them touched the portkey and was transported to the site of the Quidditch World Cup match.

The three eldest Weasley sons, Charlie, Bill, and Percy, travelled by apparition. It's a magical method of instant travel whereby the wizard or witch disappears and then reappears at a given spot.
5. Who attended the Yule Ball at Hogwarts with Hermione?

Answer: Viktor Krum

Hermione attended the Yule Ball with Viktor Krum. Krum was not only the famous Seeker for the Bulgarian Quidditch team, but he also competed in the Triwizard Tournament as the Champion from the Durmstrang School.
6. What is the Goblet of Fire?

Answer: Cup that selected who competed in the Triwizard Tournament

The Goblet of Fire looked very ordinary. It was a large, carved, wooden cup that held blue flames. The names of those who wished to compete in the Triwizard Tournament were placed in the Goblet of Fire, and it spewed out the winning names.
7. Which of the following houses at Hogwarts was Cedric Diggory a member of?

Answer: Hufflepuff

Each of the four wizards and witches that founded Hogwarts also founded a house that bore his or her name. The names of the houses were: Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, Slytherin, and Gryffindor. Each first year student was sorted into their house by the Sorting Hat. Cedric Diggory was a Hufflepuff. Hufflepuffs were known as hard workers. Ravenclaws were known for their cleverness. Members of Slytherin house were ambitious, and members of Gryffindor were known for their bravery. Harry Potter was a Gryffindor.
8. What does Rita Skeeter reveal about Hagrid in her newspaper article for the "Daily Prophet"?

Answer: Hagrid's mother was a giantess, and his father was a wizard.

Rita Skeeter, the snoopy reporter for the "Daily Prophet" reveals that Hagrid's father was a wizard and that his mother was a giantess named Fridwulfa.
9. How does Harry find out the clue hidden in the golden dragon's egg?

Answer: Puts the egg underwater

The golden dragon's egg contains the information needed to complete the second task in the Triwizard Tournament. All the egg does is wail when it is opened. Cedric tells Harry to take the egg and think about it in hot water. Harry climbs into the bathtub in the Prefect's bathroom, and Moaning Myrtle, the ghost, tells Harry to put the egg and his head under the water.

The egg then sings out the clue to the second task.
10. What happened to Hermione when Draco Malfoy put a spell on her?

Answer: Her teeth grew bigger and bigger.

Malfoy hates Hermione, because not only does she have human parents, but Hermione is also a close friend of Harry Potter's. He causes her already prominent teeth to grow larger and larger. When Madame Pomfrey is shrinking her teeth, Hermione lets her shrink them down smaller than they were to start with, so Hermione ended up with normal size teeth.
11. Who does the Pensieve belong to?

Answer: Dumbledore

It was Professor Dumbledore's. The Pensieve allowed him to unload his mind, when it got too full, and store the memories up for later viewing.
12. What does the echo or shadow of Cedric Diggory ask Harry to do for him?

Answer: Bring his body back to his parents

The wands of Harry Potter and Lord Voldemort both had a feather from the same phoenix as its core. This caused Lord Voldemort's last spells to be revealed. The spells were killing spells, so the echoes, or shadows, of Voldemort's last five victims came out of his wand.

The first was that of Cedric Diggory, because he was the last one Voldemort had killed. The other shadows were those of Frank Bryce, the old man Voldemort killed at the Riddle House, Bertha Jorkins, and James and Lily Potter, Harry's mother and father. Dumbledore explained it to Harry as "Priori Incantateum" or the Reverse Spell effect. Cedric's echo asked Harry to bring his body back to his parents, and so Harry did.
13. The real Mad-Eye Moody was a follower of Lord Voldemort.

Answer: False

No, the real Mad-Eye Moody was not a follower of Lord Voldemort, but the wizard who impersonated him, Barty Crouch, was. Crouch had taken Mad-Eye's place at Hogwarts by forcing Mad-eye into his own magic trunk. Crouch then took Mad-eye's appearance by drinking Polyjuice Potion with some of Mad-eye's hairs mixed in it.
14. Even though Rita Skeeter was banned from Hogwarts, she always knew exactly what was going on. How did Rita always seem to know what was happening with Harry and his friends?

Answer: She changed into a beetle and eavesdropped.

Rita always knew everything that was going on at Hogwarts, because she was an unregistered Animagus. She changed herself into a beetle and turned up unnoticed to eavesdrop wherever she liked. Anything Rita found out, no matter how hurtful or private, was fodder for her column in the "Daily Prophet".
15. What did Harry tell Fred and George Weasley to buy for Ron with the Triwizard Tournament winnings that he gave to them?

Answer: Dress robes

Mrs. Weasley couldn't afford to buy a new dress robe for Ron. She bought him a used one that looked just like a long, velvet, lady's dress. It was maroon with a lace collar and had matching lace on the sleeves. It's no wonder that Ron hated it. I hoped you enjoyed taking my Harry Potter quiz.
