1. In what way does Mary Poppins return?

Answer: Michael pulls her in when he's flying his kite in the Park

Pamela Travers wrote eight Mary Poppins books altogether. She wrote several other children's and adult's books as well, but it is her character Mary Poppins that is remembered the most.
2. When Mary Poppins returns in this series, how does she judge the Banks children's behaviours?

Answer: She uses a Thermometer

She uses a very 'large Thermometer' to see how the children have behaved. Jane's 'temperature' reads, 'Careless, thoughtless and untidy', and Michael's reads, 'A very noisy, mischievous, troublesome little boy'. The twins's readings are similar.
3. Who is the new addition to the Banks family?

Answer: Annabel

Christina, Valentine, William and Everard are the children in the Royal Doulton Bowl, that's in the nursery. Jane throws the bowl across the room in a fit of temper and is invited into the world within.
4. What important person kisses Mary Poppins, leaving a fiery mark on her cheek, on her 'Evening Out'?

Answer: The Sun

Mary Poppins and her charges attend a 'Circus of the Stars' (so to speak) on her evening off. All the planets in the sky appear - the Sun, the Moon, Orion, the Constellations, etc.
5. Who is Nellie-Rubina's uncle?

Answer: Uncle Dodger

Mary Poppins brings the children to the park where they see a big ark, that wasn't there before. This is where Nellie-Rubina and her Uncle Dodger live.
6. What is Nellie-Rubina and Uncle Dodger's secret purpose that needs Mary Poppins' help?

Answer: They needed Mary Poppins to help 'set up' Spring

Nellie-Rubina, Uncle Dodger and Mary Poppins met in the park at night and proceeded to 'set up' Spring. They put up all the wooden decorations that Uncle Dodger had previously readied. There were flowers, lambs, tree leaves, and birds. They put everything into place with dabs of green paint instead of glue.

When the children woke up the next morning, the snow had melted and Spring had arrived.
7. Who is Mary Poppins' cousin Arthur?

Answer: Mr. Turvy

Everything tends to go wrong with Mr. Turvey on the second Monday of every month. If he wants to go in, he's automatically outside, and if he wants to be outside, he's automatically stuck inside.
8. Who does Mary Poppins' uncle end up marrying?

Answer: His house keeper Miss Tartlet

His housekeeper Miss Tartlet started out being peevish and unfriendly, but when she starts to turn upside down like the others, she becomes prettier and sweeter. Also, it turns out that her full name is Topsy Tartlet. Together they became Topsy Turvy!
9. In Mary Poppins' story, about the King of the Castle, who does the Dirty Rascal represent?

Answer: Robertson Ay

In each of the Mary Poppins books, there is always one chapter where Mary Poppins settles down and tells the children a story. In this series, she tells a story of a King and his loyal Fool, the Dirty Rascal. It is revealed that the Dirty Rascal is so familiar because he is actually Robertson Ay, the family's lazy handyman. He might be lazy, but he brings good luck wherever he goes.
10. Who was Mr. Bank's old Governess? His nickname for her is 'Holy Terror'?

Answer: Miss Andrew

Miss Andrew comes for an unexpected visit, and she is much worse than Mr. Bank's description. She's mean, rude, haughty and overbearing.
11. What is the name of the Lark that the Governess has imprisoned?

Answer: Caruso

Caruso tells Mary Poppins that Miss Andrew trapped him in his field and has kept him prisoner in the cage for two years. Mary Poppins' extraordinary powers include being able to understand and communicate with animals.
12. When Mary Poppins came back into the Banks family's life, she was only carrying her carpet bag and umbrella. Where were the rest of her belongings located?

Answer: Underneath Michael's bed

'When she came to Michael's bed she bent down, and rummaged under it for a minute. Then she carefully drew out her camp-bedstead with her possessions laid upon it in neat piles. The cake of Sunlight soap, the toothbrush, the packet of hair pins, the bottle of scent, the small folding arm-chair and the box of throat lozenges. Also the seven flannel nightgowns, th efour cotton ones, the boots, the dominoes, the two bathing-caps and the postcard album.' Michael himself had been under his bed many times, but these items were never there before.
13. How long does Mary Poppins say she will stay in this series?

Answer: Until her chain with the small gold locket breaks

In book two, Mary Poppins Comes Back, Mary Poppins promises Michael and Jane that this time she will stay until 'the chain breaks'. She means the chain that she is wearing around her neck with a gold locket hanging on the end of it. Although the children are curious as to what's inside the locket, Mary Poppins refuses to show them.
14. What is inside the locket of Mary Poppins?

Answer: A picture of Jane, Michael, John, Barbara and Annabel Banks and Mary Poppins

As Mary Poppins departs on the Merry Go Round, her chain finally breaks, as she had previously promised. The locket flies off and when Jane and Michael open it, they discover a portrait of themselves with Mary Poppins. Enscribed is 'Jane, Michael, Barbara and Annabel Banks, and Mary Poppins.' She had this locket with her when she first came back into their lives, and long before Annabel was even born.
15. What does the Balloon Woman in the park tell the children when they are buying her balloons?

Answer: There's a balloon for everybody in the world if only they choose properly.

The little old Balloon Woman kept urging everyone to take their time in choosing their balloons because each one was special. When Jane and Michael had theirs blown up, they discovered that the balloon had their names on it. If every one took their time, they would all get their 'own' balloons. Pretty soon, everyone was floating in the air with their balloons in the park, from the Prime Minister to the Ice Cream Man, and it turned out to be a wonderful afternoon in the park.
