"Jodie" is the first word in the book and in the next sentence it says Jodie was the first word Pearl ever said. Pearl thinks it's because Jodie is the person she loves best.

2. What are Jodie's friends called?

Answer: Marie, Siobhan and Shanice

Marie, Siobhan and Shanice are the three toughest girls in Jodie's class and Jodie soon learns to be tough so fits into the gang.
