Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. "Camp Town ladies ____ this song, Doo-da, Doo-da. Camp Town racetrack's five miles long, Oh, de doo-da day".

Answer: sing

"Oh, de doo-da day, Oh, de doo-da day. Camp Town ladies sing this song, Oh, de doo-da day".
A camp town, many years ago, was tents pitched in a large area that looked like what we call a city today. It was shelter for the hard-working men that were laying the railroad tracks at that time. A man named Stephen Foster, whom many called the "the father of American music", wrote "Camptown Races" in 1850.
2. "I'm a little _____, short and stout. Here is my handle, here is my spout".

Answer: teapot

"When I get all steamed up, hear me shout, just tip me over and pour me out!"
"I'm a Little Teapot" was written as a nursery rhyme, but someone clever put music to it and it became a song. Before you pour out hot tea, or any other hot liquid, ask an adult to help. You can easily burn yourself, even from the steam!
3. "Oh where, oh where has my little ___ gone? Oh where, oh where can he be?"

Answer: dog

"With his ears cut short and his tail cut long, oh where, oh where can he be?"
"Oh Where Has My Little Dog Gone?" is a children's favorite sing-a-long song. You can repeat this short song and be creative by using other words, such as another animal or a word of your choice.

In the song, "She'll Be Coming 'Round the Mountain", each verse has a different arrangement of phrases, such as, "She'll be driving six white horses when she comes". The next verse, you will sing, "Oh, we'll all go out to meet her when she comes". Although there are more verses to this song, you may try to come up with some of your very own. That would be fun!
6. "Take me out to the ball game, take me out with the crowd; Buy me some ______ and Cracker Jacks, I don't care if I never get back".

Answer: peanuts

Let me root, root, root for the home team, if they don't win, it's a shame.
For it's one, two, three strikes, you're out, at the old ball game".

"But come ye back when summer's in the meadow. Or when the valley's hushed and white with snow. 'Tis I'll be there in sunshine or in shadow. Oh Danny boy, oh Danny boy, I love you so".
"Danny Boy", set to the tune of "Londonderry Air", is a very beautiful song. Written by Frederick E. Weatherly, the well-loved ballad made an amazing journey across the ocean from Ireland to America, and other countries of the world. We should thank the Irish for sharing it with us.
8. "Are you ______? are you _______? Brother John, brother John?"

Answer: sleeping

Answer: sea

"Bring back, bring back. Bring back my Bonnie to me, to me!
Bring back, bring back. Oh, bring back my Bonnie to me!"

You can use the same tune to sing a modern version with these words.
"Last night I programmed my computer. A thunderstorm started outside. A lightning bolt hit the main cable; now all of my floppies are fried!"
10. "Fly's in the buttermilk, shoo, fly, shoo. Fly's in the buttermilk, shoo, fly, shoo. Fly's in the buttermilk, shoo, fly, shoo. Skip to my ___ , my darlin' ".

Answer: Lou

"Skip, skip, skip to my Lou. Skip, skip, skip to my Lou. Skip, skip, skip to my Lou, skip to my Lou, my darlin' ". For the next two verses, you will sing,
"Cat's in the cream jar, ooh, ooh, ooh", then, "Can't get a red bird, a Jay bird will do".

Our road trip is over and we've had some fun. I hope you don't think that you are done. Keep learning and singing, I ask of you please, and the next trip you take, will be a breeze! Thanks for playing my quizzes.
