Oxygen is needed by our body to live. It is a constituent of water, which is essential for biochemical reactions. Oxygen is also needed to combine with food and release energy.

Answer: Chlorophyll

Plants make the energy they need using carbon dioxide and water in the presence of sunlight using chlorophyll. This process is called photosynthesis.
3. What kind of rock is pumice?

Answer: Igneous

An igneous rock is a kind of rock is formed by the solidifying of molten lava from volcano. Granite is another igneous rock. Pumice is formed by lava with pores (holes) in it.

Answer: frog

Herbivores are those organisms which feed directly on plants. Carnivores eat meat by feeding on other animals. Frogs eat insects, therefore, it is a carnivore.
8. Which of these changes is a chemical change?

Answer: slaking of lime

A chemical change is a permanent irreversible change which cannot be changed by reversing the conditions and where new substances are formed. A physical change is a temporary reversible change which can be changed by reversing the conditions and where no new substances are formed. Once lime is slaked, it cannot be changed back to its original form by reversing the conditions, so it is a chemical change.
9. Who discovered the ABO blood groups?

Answer: Karl Landsteiner

Karl Landsteiner discovered that if blood from different groups is mixed, the haemoglobin present in blood gets destroyed. He was given the Nobel Prize for Medicine for this.

Answer: Melanin

More exposure to sunlight makes some glands present inside the skin release melanin. The release of more melanin makes the skin darker.
