Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. A--Alderheart. Oh, Alderheart. Why did I choose him? I don't know. But here's a question about him...when he was on his "journey" with Needlepaw, he didn't find SkyClan, but he found two kits, one of whom Needlepaw named Violetkit. What did Alderpaw name the other kit?

Answer: Twigkit

Yeah...Alderpaw named her this because she was twig-like. Very original, Alderpaw. If you read the book "The Apprentice's Quest", you should know this one.
2. B--Briarlight. I love Briarlight! She's that brave, strong, physically disabled she-cat I like. She races in camp to save an elder when a beech tree falls on the camp (and on her and the elder). Who is that elder?

Answer: Longtail

Longtail was actually running into camp to save a dead mouse. Briarlight--Briarpaw at the time--has her legs paralyzed. How sad. Too bad cats don't have wheelchairs--instead she has to stay in the medicine den with Jayfeather. For an infinitely long time. This happened in "Fading Echoes", and she's still not out as of "Darkest Night". Wow.
3. C--Clawface. Clawface ruthlessly killed the medicine cat, Spottedleaf, in "Into the Wild". One of Firestar's...how should I put this?...closer cats...kills Clawface. Who is this cat?

Answer: Graystripe

When Graystripe sees Clawface attacking Firestar (Firepaw at the time), he bounds over and kills Clawface by snapping his neck. He felt sorry about it afterward, but Firestar reminds him of what a ruthless, bloodthirsty cat Clawface was.
4. D--Doestar. Okay, no more Mr./Mrs. Nice FlameDragon12. Have you heard of Doestar? What was the last half of her warrior name?

Answer: -feather

Doe...a deer...a female deer...

Sorry, I just had to do that.

Her full warrior name was Doefeather. Does don't have feathers. Doepelt, Doeleap, and Doenose would have made more sense. Go figure.

Doestar was the leader who succeeded Oakstar and preceded Pinestar. Her ninth life was taken by sickness. StarClan watches over her.
5. E--Echosong. Echosong was destined to be SkyClan's medicine cat from the very beginning. Before, what was Echosong?

Answer: She was a kittypet

I was going to do Eagleheart for E, a character from my own "Warriors" world, but then I realized--"Wait! None of you guys know who Eagleheart is!" So Echosong was the next best choice. But Echosong, you're cool.

Echosong died on the journey for Modern SkyClan to reunite with the others. Frecklewish replaced her. Then she went missing. Then she came back. Great StarClan, this is confusing.
6. F--Flametail. Yeah, I know, I didn't do Firestar. More about that in the Interesting Info section. But anyway, what book did Flametail die in? Hint: he's on the cover.

Answer: Night Whispers

Reason One: Firestar is way overrated (that's completely my opinion, though, so think what you want).

Reason Two: Man, I've always wanted someone to talk to about this! Tawnypelt's better at naming kits than most cats. She named her kits Tigerkit, Dawnkit, and Flamekit. Meanwhile, Gorsetail named her kits Sedgekit, Thistlekit (who grew up to be Thistleheart, think about that name), and Swallowkit. Ooooooooookay (yes, I know a swallow is a bird).
7. G--Gray Wing. Man, I love this guy! When Storm died, Gray Wing (and Turtle Tail) named her kit Thunder. Why?

Answer: He was born from Storm in a storm of stones and dust

Thunder goes on to become the leader and founder of ThunderClan. He was succeeded by Owlstar and preceded by...well, no one.
8. H--Honeyfern. When she sacrificed herself for a kit, she was killed by an snake. Who was she protecting?

Answer: Briarkit

Honeyfern's mate, Berrynose, was devastated.
9. I--Ivypool. Let's do some connections about Ivypool. Who is Ivypool's nephew's paternal grandfather's brother-in-law?

Answer: Bramblestar

Ivypool's only nephew is Shadowkit, whose paternal grandfather is Rowanstar through his father, Tigerstar, whose only brother-in-law is Bramblestar.
10. J--Jayfeather. Jayfeather himself. Let's do some paradox stuff. When Jayfeather traveled back in time, his spirit inhabited the body of Jay's Wing, whom he is a reincarnation of. Because Jayfeather is a medicine cat, he can't take a mate. But one cat was certainly interested in Jayfeather--well, Jay's Wing. Who was this cat?

Answer: Half Moon

Half Moon, also known as Teller of the Pointed Stones (or more simply, Stoneteller), showed obvious attraction to Jayfeather/Jay's Wing. Dove's Wing is his sister, whom Dovewing (one of the Three, along with Jayfeather) is a reincarnation of, Whispering Breeze is a very minor Ancient, and Robin's Song is a cat I made up (I think).
11. K--Kinkfur. I never really paid attention to this she-cat, other than the mentioning of her kinky fur in various situations. But when she died from a strange disease, I couldn't help but mourn. What was this disease that also killed many other cats?

Answer: Yellowcough

Yellowcough was that disease. Who knows what it is? Greencough is fatal but is known how to treat and cure. If you have heard about blackcough before, congratulations, because it's actually real in the "Warriors" universe. Redcough is a disease where you cough up clots of blood. Ew.
12. L--Lark that Sings at Dawn. I had to put a cat from the Tribe here somewhere! Here's an intricate one: In the prologue of "Sign of the Moon", how many eagles did Lark say she caught?

Answer: Three

Lark was five moons old at the time. Wow. By the way, I could have done Leafpool, but...meh.

Sorry to all you Leafpool fans out there.
13. M--Moth Flight. When Moth Flight overlooks a leadership ceremony, of a leader receiving their nine lives, who is the cat she sees receiving their lives?

Answer: Firestar

He is seen receiving lives from Lionheart and Bluestar. To Moth Flight, it looks like he was struck with a bolt of lightning.
14. N--Needletail. This question is a tribute to this brave, yet rebellious, she-cat. She had a sad death, killed by Darktail, Sleekwhisker, and Roach. But I'm not talking about Needletail's death anymore. When she was first seen at a Gathering, about how old was she?

Answer: Nine moons

We can tell this because kits are made apprentices when they are six moons old, and Needletail was another three moons old when we saw her for the first time. Therefore, she was nine moons.

Needletail, you will be missed.
15. O--Owlstar. Owlstar was the second leader of ThunderClan, after Thunderstar. What was his warrior name?

Answer: Owl Eyes

Owl Eyes was the kit of Turtle Tail and (ugh) Tom. His sister was Sparrow Fur, his brother, Pebble Heart. I always have liked that family.
16. P--Pinestar. There's a whole novella dedicated to this guy! Please answer this question quickly so we can get on with the quiz: What is Pinestar's kittypet name?

Answer: Pine

Yeah, Sammy seems to suit Pinestar very well.

This was revealed at the end of "Pinestar's Choice". Kind of convenient, eh?
17. Q--Quiet Rain. Quiet Rain's only daughter, Fluttering Bird, died how?

Answer: Hunger

We barely got to know Fluttering Bird before she died. By the way, Quiet Rain was very unhappy.
18. R--Raggedstar. Am I the only one who likes Raggedstar? Perhaps I am. To prove that I'm not, can you name his father for me?

Answer: Hal

Now, if Raggedstar's dad was Mocha, I would be blown away. That would make him and Jake half-brothers, and Brokenstar and Firestar would be...nope. Just nope.
19. S--Snookthorn. This cat... I don't know what to say. He's a...a...well, read "SkyClan's Destiny". I suppose we can go back to the basics--what color pelt does he have?

Answer: Black and white

That's right, he has the same color pelt as Smudge.
20. T--Tigerstar (the murderer). Yeah, him. I'm not holding back--which one of these cats didn't Tigerstar kill?

Answer: Lionheart

The funny thing is, I always thought Tigerstar DID kill Lionheart. He was killed by ShadowClan warriors. I also always thought the dogs killed Brindleface, not Tigerstar. That was weird.
21. V--Violet Dawn. How many kits did Violet Dawn have with Thunder?

Answer: Four

These kits were Lightning Stripe, Sleek Fur, Feather Ear, and Shell Claw. Violet Dawn's cool.
22. W--Whitestorm. Of course I have to do Whitestorm! He's my favorite cat, after all! In "Code of the Clans", Whitestorm is teaching border tactics. Who is he teaching?

Answer: Firepaw, Graypaw, Ravenpaw, Sandpaw, and Dustpaw

The apprentices have all sorts of questions...they're quite annoying.
23. Y--Yellowfang. What were the names of Yellowfang's she-kits?

Answer: Hopekit and Wishkit

They didn't live to see their ruthless brother try and conquer the forest with his mean tactics. I don't know if they saw their brother at all.
24. BONUS QUESTION--Why is the suffix of a leader's name "-star?"

Answer: Because they get their nine lives from StarClan

All leaders get their nine lives from StarClan. Well...most leaders. Cough--Sunstar, Nightstar--cough. Sunstar got eight lives because Pinestar was alive, and Nightstar stayed with his one life because Brokentail was alive, but in ThunderClan custody.
25. BONUS QUESTION--Why is an apprentice's suffix always "-paw?"

Answer: They are on their paws on the journey of becoming a warrior

That fact was revealed in the field guide "Secrets of the Clans".
