Windy Windkloppel used four aliases during the Westing Game, which were named after directions: Barney Northrup, Alexander McSouthers, Samuel W. Westing, and Julian R. Eastman. Otis Amber was the delivery boy for Sunset Towers. Windkloppel was Sam Westing before the game, Sandy McSouthers and Barney Northrup during the game, and Julian Eastman after it ended.

Grace Windsor Wexler was a want-to-be fashion designer, who always tried to look elegant and dignified. Her hair, which she frequently had styled, was honey blonde. Although the Wexlers were not rich, Grace always carried herself like a duchess, and prided herself on her home and appearance.

Grace Wexler had always told the other heirs that Sam Westing was her uncle. At the beginning of the game, when Ed Plum read the will, she found out that she actually was related to him. Windkloppel, Sam Westing's real last name, was Grace's maiden name.

Crow, the cleaning lady for Sunset Towers, was named Berthe Erica Crow. Flora Baumbach was the dressmaker, and Grace Wexler was the interior decorator.

Angela, Grace Wexler's beautiful daughter, was paired with Sydelle Pulaski, the want-to-be-crippled Polish secretary. Crow, the cleaning woman, was paired with Otis Amber, the delivry boy. Flora Baumbach, the dressmaker, was paired with Turtle Wexler, Angela's younger sister, and Sunny Hoo, the Chinese cook, was paired with Jake Wexler, the foot doctor.

Theo made his clues into a chemical formula for dynamite, and left him with the letters spelling Otis. Theo assumed this meant that Otis Amber was the bomber and the murderer.

Turtle accused Sydelle of faking her injury that caused her to use a crutch. Sydelle said that Turtle's figurative crutch was her big mouth, but Angela thought that it was her braid. Turtle hid behind her braid, using it as her defense against people.

Crow gave her clues to Angela, who reminded her of her daughter Violet, who had drowned. Theo reminded Crow of his father, George Theodorakis, who was engaged to marry Violet, who looked like Angela.

Crow was actually the former wife of Samuel Westing, and mother of Violet, who had wanted her to marry Theo's father, George Theodorakis, against Sam Westing's wishes.

Doug and Theo were partners, and had agreed to follow Otis, whom they suspected of being the murderer. Doug followed Otis on foot, being a runner, but Theo needed to use Turtle's bike to follow him around the town.

Crow and Otis Amber were married in Sunset Towers, just after the Westing Game ended. Otis Amber had cared for and protected Crow for a long time, and, finally, they were married and ran the soup kitchen together. The other three couples were married later.

Dr. Sidney Sikes, Westing's best friend, was with him in the car accident, and helped him operate the Westing Game. Edgar Jennings Plum was the bumbling young lawyer that executed his will. Conrad Scultz was the president of a sausage company that Sydelle Pulaski used to work for, and Julian R. Eastman was an alias of Samuel Westing.

Sam Westing, a great patriot, died on the 4th of July, as he had written in his will, and was buried in his Uncle Sam costume, which he had been known for wearing at his parties on the 4th of July every year. Only Turtle knew when he really died, because he was now known as Julian R. Eastman, and had willed most of his large fortune to Turtle.

Turtle figured out the answer to the Westing Game at the end. Everybody believed that Sam Westing died as Sandy McSouthers, but Turtle knew that he had actualy changed his identity again. Windy Windkloppel did not die, but took on four aliases: Samuel Westing, Barney Northrup, Sandy McSouthers, and Julian Eastman. Turtle realized that they were directions, and found the fourth alias, Julian Eastman, who was Sam Westing. Turtle remained friends with Julian Eastman until he died, and received the inheritance, never telling anyone that she had solved the Westing Game.
