Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Good morning. As you wake up from your slumber, you realize it is Monday and it's time to get ready for work. You go to the bathroom, do your business and take a shower. You're ready to shave. Which of these razor brands would *not* be used to shave?

Answer: Craftsman

Craftsman is the hardware division of Sears department stores. You'd most likely find an industrial razor here, but you wouldn't want to shave with it. Schick produces the Hydro and Quattro razors, Gillette produces the Fusion and Mach3 razors and Bic produces disposable razors.
2. It's time to brush your teeth. Which of these brands would you *not* use as toothpaste?

Answer: Elmer's

Elmer's unfortunately does not produce toothpaste. However, if you wanted to glue your mouth together, then they may be able to help you. Aquafresh features a trademark red white and blue toothpaste. Colgate and Crest are traditional toothpaste manufacturers.
3. Time to get dressed. You look through your underwear drawer to find your tightie whities. Which of these brands would you *not* pick if you were living in the United States?

Answer: New Era

New Era produces sports caps and hats. While they may help you cover your privates, it would look very weird. Hanes and Fruit of the Loom are two of the more well known underwear producers. Calvin Klein produces more fashionable undies as seen in the movie "Back to The Future".
4. You're dressed and now proceed to get the morning news. You have several subscriptions. Which of the following is *not* a newspaper?

Answer: U.S. News & World Report

"U.S. News & World Report" is a magazine, not a newspaper. It was once a weekly publication, but its frequency diminished as people began turning to the Internet for news. "The Wall Street Journal", popular amongst business tycoons, is a newspaper published by Dow Jones & Company. "USA Today" is a newspaper produced by the Gannett Company. "The New York Times" was one of the last major newspapers to adopt color pages.
5. It's time for breakfast; you have a craving for eggs, but you don't want to risk getting raw egg on your clothes. How could you prepare them to avoid this?

Answer: Hard-Boiled

Hard-boiling an egg does not require the shell to be removed until after it is cooked. For scrambled eggs you must crack open the egg, place it in a bowl and stir it up into a yellow mix. For sunny-side up and over easy eggs the egg is cracked and released directly into the pan most of the time with the yolk still unbroken or runny.
6. To go with your eggs, you have a craving for citrus fruit. Which of these is *not* a citrus fruit?

Answer: Nectarine

A nectarine, which is related to a peach, has a fleshy skin which is edible. Citrus fruits have a tough skin which is not edible or tastes bad. Oranges, grapefruits, lemons and limes all require you to either peel off the skin or cut the fruit in half and scoop out the fleshy parts with either your mouth, a knife or a spoon. The skin is sometimes used as a flavoring agent.
7. No morning would be complete without a cup of hot coffee. Which of these is *not* a brand of coffee?

Answer: Lipton

Lipton is known for selling tea, not coffee. Lipton was incorporated in Scotland around the year 1890. They also produce several soup varieties. Maxwell House and Folgers are two well known coffee makers. Sanka is a decaffeinated coffee brand made by Kraft Foods.
8. During breakfast you want to watch some television. You flip through the channels and see only morning talk shows. Which of these programs would you never have seen if watching in the U.S.?

Answer: Howard Stern Show

"The Howard Stern Show" was a popular morning radio show. High ratings prompted Howard Stern to move the show to his own channel on Sirius satellite radio. The original radio show did record a televised version that aired on E! Entertainment Television. However the televised version of the show only appeared during late night hours.
9. You finish breakfast and step outside. You stop and see fresh dew on your lawn. What is dew?

Answer: Water droplets

Dew is water droplets that appear usually during the early morning or late evening hours. You may hear a weatherman mention a 'dew point'. This is the temperature at which these droplets may form.
10. You're ready to go to work; it's a new day and the sun is shining brightly. Which of these is *not* a true statement regarding the sun?

Answer: It's safe to look at directly

The sun is Earth's companion. Life on earth would not exist without its presence. However, despite its magnificence, it is extremely dangerous to look at the sun directly as it can cause blindness.
