While the movie takes place in Punxsutawney, the actual filming took place in Woodstock, Illinois. The movie stars Bill Murray and Andie MacDowell and was filmed in 1993. Bill Murray can be seen repeating his day over 40 times in the movie, but the movie insinuates that the total is actually much higher!
