Close! It was the 48th state admitted, making it the last of the contiguous states. Alaska and Hawaii were both added after Arizona became a state in February 14, 1912.
2. Turquoise, a yellowish-brown rock, is the state gemstone.

Answer: False

While turquoise is the state gemstone, it is a blueish-green stone, not yellowish-brown. Turquoise is found throughout the state, and has a somewhat waxy coat when found in nature.
3. Arizona shares more than 300 miles of a border with Mexico.

Answer: True

The border is about 386 miles long. The border spans the Mexican States of Sonora and Baja California (Not to be confused with the U.S. State of California). From 1821 until 1848 most of the state was part of Mexico. The U.S. gained most of the land during the Mexican-American War.
4. Nearly 25 percent of the state is Native American reservations.

As of 2017 the state is home to more than 300,000 Native Americans. There were 27 different federally recognized tribes with reservations in the state. Native Americans living on the reservations didn't gain the right to vote until 1948 when the state lost a federal lawsuit.

Grand Canyon National Park is in Arizona, as is most of the Canyon itself. The Grand Canyon was cut by the Colorado River as it flowed through the region over millions of years. The Canyon is about 277 miles long and ranges from 4 to 18 miles wide.

After picking Harry Truman in 1948, the state didn't go for a Democrat again until Bill Clinton's second term. From 2000 to 2016 it went back to being strictly for Republicans again.

9. The London Bridge is located within the state.

Answer: True

The original London Bridge was shipped, stone by stone, to the state and reconstructed there. It was originally built in London in the 1830s, and in 1967 was bought and sent to Lake Havasu City. The bridge was rebuilt, and reinforced for more modern traffic.
10. There is a famous landmark called "The Five" where a person can stand in five states at once. Arizona is one of the five.

The spot is actually called Four Corners. It marks the spot where Arizona, Utah, New Mexico and Colorado all come to a meeting. It is the only spot in the U.S. where four state meet all at the same place.
