Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Disney's fawn
Answer: Bambi
"Bambi" (1942) was produced by Walt Disney based on the book "Bambi, A Life in the Woods" by Felix Salten. The film was released by RKO. Adults and children were enchanted by the innocent and naïve Bambi and his friends Thumper, a pink-nosed rabbit and Flower, a skunk.
The film received three Academy Award nominations for Best Sound, Best Song ("Love Is a Song") and Original Music Score.
2. PTL
Answer: Jim Bakker
PTL stood for 'Praise the lord'. Televangelist Jim Bakker with his wife Tammy Faye started a Christian television show "The PTL Club". Eventually they turned to real estate development and purchased Heritage USA in Fort Mill, South Carolina near Charlotte. They promised three days stay at the theme park a year for each contribution of 1000 dollars. The money flew in to the tune of a million dollars a week. However construction to accommodate the donors fell far short of the pledge - but Jim and Tammy were eating high on the hog and had a lavish life style. Jim's affair with Jessica Hahn brought the house of cards to collapse. Bakker was charged eight counts of mail fraud, 15 counts of wire fraud and one count of conspiracy. He served five years of a forty-five year sentence. Upon his release he has tried to resurrect his reputation and career.
Tammy Faye Bakker did not face charges and divorced Jim Bakker in 1992. She remarried and died of cancer in 2007.
