Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Red

Introduced in 1903, Red crayons are a very popular standard crayon colour. They have been in 16-, 24-, and 64-crayon boxes in every year from 1903.
2. Middle Blue Purple

The Crayola company acquired the Munsell company in 1926. The Munsell company used a colour wheel that was different from anything that Crayola had used to that point, so some new colours were introduced in 1926. This includes Middle Blue Purple, a cross between blue and purple that was a bit darker than Maximum Blue Purple, but lighter than Maximum Purple. Middle Blue Purple appeared in Crayola boxes from 1926-1944.
3. Red-Violet

Red-Violet was introduced in 1930. It is a popular colour that has been found in the 16-, 24-, and 64-crayon boxes from the time of its introduction through to the early 21st century. This colour is not to be confused with Violet-Red that was introduced in 1958. They are similar in colour, but Red-Violet is a bit darker.
4. Sepia

Sepia was introduced in 1935. It is a shade of brown that was available only in bulk from 1935-1939. Sepia has appeared in the Crayola 64-crayon box from 1935-1944, and again from 1958 through the early part of the 21st century.
5. Mahogany

Mahogany was introduced to the Crayola 64-crayon boxes in 1949. This dark red colour remained in this collection through the early part of the 21st century.
6. Apricot

Apricot was introduced by Crayola in 1958. It has appeared in the 24-crayon and 64-crayon boxes from then through the early 21st century.
7. Macaroni and Cheese

Macaroni and Cheese was introduced in 1993 and has appeared in the 64-crayon box through the early 21st century. This orange shade has also been found to be labelled as "Macaroni & Cheese" and "Macaroni-n-Cheese".
8. Torch Red

Torch Red was introduced for the 24- and 64-crayon boxes in 1998. In 1999, the same colour had a name change and became Scarlet on the crayon labels.
9. Indigo

Crayola introduced Indigo in their standard colour collection in 1999. This darker blue colour has appeared in 24- and 64-crayon boxes from that time into the early part of the 21st century.
10. Bluetiful

Crayola introduced this deep blue colour in 2017. It has appeared in the 24-crayon and 64-crayon boxes.
