Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Based on a commonly used expression for a simple task, which of the following food items is the easy one?

Answer: Pie

The origin of the phrase "easy as pie" is not easily established. Although some claim it originated in New Zealand or Australia about 1920, other sources maintain that the expression was already in use in America in the 1890's. Even the origin of the word "pie" is contested.

Some would ascribe it to the geometric "pi" and the fact that a pie's circular shape brings to mind the geometric relationship involving pi and circles. Others trace the word to an old English word "pi" meaning "a mixture".
2. The woman with sparkling earrings and skin, so brown gave the Eagles a particular type of "easy feeling". What is the missing word in the title of the song to which I allude, "__________ Easy Feeling".

Answer: Peaceful

Released in 1973, "Peaceful Easy Feeling" was a #22 Billboard hit.
3. In which city is the 1987 film, "The Big Easy", set?

Answer: New Orleans

This 1987 police action-drama starred Dennis Quaid. I never saw the film; but hopefully, it provided another easy point for you.
4. Which of the following was a 1963 hit for the Essex?

Answer: Easier Said Than Done

"Easier Said Than Done" was #39 on the 1963 Billboard chart. Four men and one woman made up the Essex. All were marines stationed at Camp LeJeune when their group was formed. The band indicated that they did not like this song, and it was released as a single over their protest.
5. In school, when I came to the plate for an at bat in a baseball game I would often hear shouts of "easy out". Was this a compliment?

Answer: No

Does it bother you that I was always chosen last for baseball? Is this quiz the place to discuss the deep emotional trauma my unfeeling classmates inflicted on me? Nope.
6. Complete this expression indicating that money easily obtained can be just as easily lost: easy come, easy _____.

Answer: go

Interestingly, this proverb can be reversed with respect to weight. It seems equally true that "easily lost, easily gained". Sigh...
7. Which golfer is nicknamed "The Big Easy"?

Answer: Ernie Els

Ernie Els is one of only four South Africans to win a "major". His nickname is a reflection of his relaxed disposition.
8. In the Eagles' song "Take It Easy", the singer ends up standing on a corner in which town?

Answer: Winslow, Arizona

This second "easy" Eagles song debuted in 1972 and reached #12 on the Billboard charts.
9. Which of the following was a 1969 movie starring Peter Fonda and Dennis Hopper?

Answer: Easy Rider

When Dennis Hopper graduated from high school in Southern California in 1954 he was voted most likely to succeed. Feel free to use this fact on a trivia quiz of your own!
10. Life is good. You have a nice home, plenty of money and a cushy job. You must be living on _______ street. On what street do you live?

Answer: Easy

According to Etymonline.com, Easy Street first appeared in print in 1901 in a book by George W. Peck entitled "Peck's Red-Headed Boy."
