Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Box One includes some arugulas, mescluns, watercresses and romaine hearts. It is obvious that this is a box that should be labeled what?

Answer: Lettuce

Arugula is also known as rocket lettuce, characterized by its peppery flavor and dark green leaves. Mesclun is a mixed breed of lettuce. Watercress is brighter than an arugula and generally favored for salads. Romaine heart, on the other hand, is crunchier and thicker than the other lettuces.
2. Box Two contains dimple, abloy, Zeiss and paracentric kinds of the same object. You should label this box as ___.

Answer: Keys

Dimple is named so because of its dimply key blade. It is easily duplicated and picked. Abloy is much more secure compared to a dimple key. An abloy key is used to open a disc tumbler lock. Zeiss, while easy to duplicate, is very hard to pick because it is a mix of a common house key and a tubular key, giving it extra teeth making it hard to pick. Paracentric keys have a contorted blade entirely different from the previous three keys, because they are all internally cut.
3. Box Three has ghillies, mules, slingbacks and pumps. Label this box.

Answer: Shoes

These are all heeled shoes with the exception of the ghillies, which are used for some classic Irish dancing. The mules, slingbacks and pumps are more fit as party shoes.
4. Box Four is a mess of assorted kinds of dynamic, ribbon, laser and liquid ___.

Answer: Microphones

A dynamic microphone is the most common round-headed microphone that you usually find in karaoke bars. It is the stereotypical type of microphone. The ribbon microphone is flatter and more primitive. The laser microphone is used most likely for surveillance, using laser to capture sound from farther objects.

The liquid microphone was actually one of the first types of microphone made. Alexander Graham Bell's phone conversation with Watson was made via liquid microphone.
5. Box Five is filled to the brim with vent, cushion, paddle and thermal types of a certain object. This box should be aptly named what?

Answer: Hair brushes

A vent hairbrush is used to give the hair height, volume and direction as it allows the air to flow through (hence vent). A cushion hairbrush is more popular with men and more effective to use on short or medium lengths of hair. A paddle hairbrush is larger, resembling the basic look of a paddle.

It is used for longer hair. A thermal hairbrush works with heat as a conductive material is on the center of the brush.
6. Box Six has fluorescent, halogen, incandescent and LED. After careful thinking, you mark this box as what?

Answer: Light bulbs

Fluorescent light bulbs are usually long cylindrical light bulbs, used typically to light large areas. Incandescent light bulbs are the ones we usually see every day and the most common kind of light bulb, the one that mostly resembles the shape of a bulb. Halogen light bulbs are smaller than incandescent ones, but they last longer even if they burn at a hotter temperature. LED, or Light Emitting Diode, bulbs are the most modern of the four.

They last longer and take up less energy.
7. Box Seven has a lot of plate, folding, large format and rangefinder types. These are surely types of what?

Answer: Cameras

Plate cameras were the first cameras to be widely distributed. They use glass plates and photographers have to cover both their heads and the camera, so the focus and composition of the photograph will be satisfactory. Folding cameras were born at the advent of the invention of film, making the glass plates smaller and the base-plates hinged so they can be folded. Large format cameras are also known as view cameras, and they are descendants of plate cameras.

The rangefinder camera is the most modern of the four as it gives more precise focusing and better pictures.
8. Box Eight is heavy with scroll, sternal, rotary and tenon ___.

Answer: Saws

Scroll saws are used to make complicated curved cuts. Sternal saws are used in the field of medicine to open up a person's sternum, the midpart of the ribcage that holds the ribs together. Rotary saws are circular blade saws used to make accurate cuts in thin materials like plywood. Tenon saws are backsaws used for more precise woodworking.
9. Box Nine has sets of bouillon, saucier, runcible and demitasse. Close this box and mark it as what?

Answer: Spoons

A bouillon spoon is rounded and smaller than a typical soup spoon. A saucier spoon is flattened slightly, and meant to hold fish or other delicate food as they are dipped in sauce. A runcible spoon is almost like a spork, originally a made-up word by Edward Lear. A demitasse spoon is made to take a "spoonful" of coffee or anything of the like.
10. Finally, the last (and the biggest) box contains clawfoot, whirlpool, recessed and drop-in kinds of ___.

Answer: Bathtubs

Clawfoot bathtubs are the most common image of a bathtub in modern society, with their giant oblong bowl-like features. Whirlpool bathtubs are much fancier, almost like a jacuzzi, where water is whirled around while you enjoy your bath. Recessed bathtubs are those that are part of the bathroom. You cannot move them around if you feel like the feng shui of the bathroom is bad or something. Drop-in bathtubs seem to be wedged in your bathroom either on a platform or between the walls.
