Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. What ancient culture's beliefs about the afterlife included a ritual known as the Weighing of the Heart?

Answer: Egyptian

This ritual completed the passage of a person into the afterlife. It involved Horus, the god of the sky, and Thoth, the scribe of the dead, and they compared the heart or conscience to a feather. Those whose hearts were found to be heavy or bad were swallowed by a crocodile-headed creature called the Devourer of Souls. Those with light or good hearts were allowed to join Osiris, the god of the underworld, in the Happy Fields.
