Three of the mentioned sights can be visited in Paris: the Notre Dame Cathedral, the Louvre Museum and the Eiffel Tower. The Pont du Gard is almost 700km from Paris. It is an aqueduct bridge, built by the Romans in the 1st century AD, with the aim of carrying water over 50km to the Roman colony Nemausus (today Nevis).

The aqueduct bridge crosses the river Gardon, in southern France. The bridge is built on three levels, each level having a different number of arches (6, 11 and 35 - originally there were 47), is 49m high above the river and is 274m long. The Pont du Gard is the highest of all aqueduct bridges built by the Romans and is very well preserved.

The movie "Psycho" (1960) was produced and directed by Alfred Hitchcock, starring Antony Perkins, John Gavin, Janet Leigh, Vera Miles and others. It was nominated for four Academy Awards. It initially received a mixed critical reception but had excellent acceptance by the public. "Psycho" is considered one of the best Hitchcock works and one of the best films of all time.

The Pennsylvania state flag consists of a dark blue background in which the state coat of arms is embedded. On the coat of arms there is a shield where objects that represent the wealth of the state appear. The Republic of Paraguay is a country, located in South America, that borders Argentina, Brazil and Bolivia. Although it is a landlocked country, Paraguay has access to the Atlantic Ocean through the Paraná-Paraguay Waterway. Among the country's tourist attractions are the Chaco region, Lake Ypacaraí, the Ibycuí National Park, freshwater beaches, and Itaipu Binacional, one of the largest hydroelectric plants in the world, located on the Paraná River on the border between Paraguay and Brazil.

The country's official languages are Spanish and Guarani and the national drink is terere, a yerba mate tea, prepared with cold water.

The Sino-American I.M. Pei, the Brazilian Oscar Niemeyer and the Iraqi-British Zaha Hadid received in 1983, 1988 and 2004, respectively, the Pritzker Architecture Prize. The award is aimed at honoring architects whose works show their talent, and commitment to humanity and the environment through architecture.

The prize is awarded annually to a living architect by the Pritzker family of Chicago, through the Hyatt Foundation, since 1976. It is considered the "Nobel Prize of Architecture" and consists of a bronze medal and US$100,000 prize.

The "Plitvice Lakes National Park" is Croatia's oldest and largest national park. It was founded in 1949 and is located near the border of Bosnia and Herzegovina. It is a series of 16 lakes, many caves and waterfalls, about 8km long; the Matica River feeds Lake Prosće, the highest of all, and the confluence of other small rivers form small lakes, located at different levels, all interconnected, descending the mountain in cascades until reaching Lake Kozjak, the largest.

The composition of different shades of blue, green and gray of the water and the local vegetation makes the place spectacular.

Pachinko is an extremely common game in Japan. It is a mixture between a pinball and a slot machine. Modern pachinko machines use a hybrid of physical and digital components. It can be played as a recreational game or a gambling device. In Japan, games of chance are banned and pachinko is in a transitional area between what is legal and illegal.

Many of the pachinko parlors are run by Korean immigrants who live in Japan, a job that is very discriminated against. This was one of the themes of the book in question.

Answer: Peer Gynt

The Norwegian Henrik Johan Ibsen (1828-1906) was a famous playwright and theater director and one of the founders of modernism in theatre. He wrote numerous pieces and among them "Peer Gynt", the five-act play in verse, which he wrote in Danish and which was published in 1867.

In 1874, Ibsen asked the Norwegian composer and pianist, one of the leaders of Scandinavian music, Edvard H. Grieg (1843-1907), to compose the incidental music for the play. The scores along with the play premiered on February 24th, 1876 in Christiania (now Oslo), Norway. Some years later, Grieg created two suites from Peer Gynt's music.

Answer: Prosper Merimée

Georges Bizet (1838-1875) was invited to write a play for the Paris Opéra-Comique and suggested "Carmen", based on the novella of the same name written by the Prosper Merimée. Bizet probably got to know this novella when he traveled to Spain where it was published in 1845.

Prosper Merimée (1803-1870) was a French archaeologist, historian, playwright and master of short stories. His best known novellas are "Colomba" and "Carmen".

Bizet composed the opera "Carmen" in four acts, which premiered on March 3rd, 1875. As the theme was dissimilar to the prevailing pattern at the time, the opera was considered immoral and vulgar. Bizet was devastated by the initial rejection of his work and died three months after the premiere, convinced that he had made a big mistake. He was not alive when Tchaikovsky wrote in a letter to a friend: "I am convinced that within some ten years or so Carmen will be the most popular opera in the world!"
