1. What color of the rainbow, not present in the picture, is an Asian budget airline, a colorful dye, and a part of the stage name of folk singers Amy Ray and Emily Saliers?

Answer: Indigo

Indigo is a part of the traditional seven-color rainbow spectrum. Indigo is also a beautiful blue dye originally found in tropical indigofera plants. Nowadays, indigo is manufactured synthetically and is used to color most pairs of jeans. Finally, Amy Ray and Emily Saliers are better known as the successful folk music duo, the "Indigo Girls." The twosome are childhood friends who started playing music together during the time that they attended Emory University in Atlanta Georgia.

The girls are also champions of the LBGT movement.
2. Which stand-alone color is a political party in Norway, a novel by Ted Dekker, and a previous Arkansas State University mascot?

Answer: Red

The Red Party is a far-left Socialist party in Norway that was founded on March 11th 2007. Ted Dekker's book "Red: The Heroic Rescue" is a Christian Science Fiction Fantasy Thriller written as the second installment of his "Circle Series." Arkansas State University has had quite a history of mascots.

In 1911 they were the "aggies," in 1925 they had a "gorilla," in 1930 they became the "Warriors," and in 1931 the mascot became a whole "Indians" family in honor of the Osage tribe. In 2003, "Red" became the new mascot for athletic events. "Red" was replaced by "Red Wolves" in 2008 because of pressure from the NCAA.
3. If you had xanthaphobia you would have an irrational fear of what color that also denotes the letter "Q" in maritime vexillology and is the primary color of the American Globeflower?

Answer: Yellow

Chromophobia and Chromatophobia are irrational fears of colors where a person has an aversion to specific colors within the spectrum. Examples include leukophobia which is a fear of the color white and erythrophobia which is the fear of red. The American Globeflower, or Troillius Laxus, is a relative to the buttercup and native to North America.

It is a beautiful flowering plant with a soft yellow hue.
4. Which "most different" color could be a dog, a cat, or a whole family of butterflies?

Answer: Blue

The Russian Blue is a beautiful cat from Russia that has a silvery-blue coat. The Russian Blue is not related to the British Blue which is a member of the British Shorthair breeds. It was this breed of cat that provided the inspiration for the Cheshire Cat from "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland." Another name for the Australian cattle dog is the Blue Heeler. This dog is a high-energy working dog popular in ranch work. North America is home to over fifty blue butterfly species all from the same order (Polyommatinae) that is divided up into thirteen different genera.
5. If you were to look directly at a working brain -- in the human head -- which of the following colors from the picture would you NOT in fact be able to see?

Answer: Blue

Most people think the human brain is one big grey or pink mass. In actuality it is highly vascular and looks red and white to the regular eye. The third color one might see is actually black not blue. Substantia nigra is a black substance found in neuromelanin a pigment responsible for coloring the skin and hair.

Interestingly, many people believe that deoxygenated blood is blue, but in actuality this blood is a dark crimson color. Veins are actually whitish not blue -- a trick of the old eyeballs.
6. Which of the following official team colors of a certain California NHL team, are also the colors of transformation in Chinese culture, and the color of a very rare stamp with Queen Victoria's head on it?

Answer: Orange

The San Jose Sharks are an NHL team founded in 1991 in San Jose California. Their official team colors are black, teal, white, and burnt orange. From 1991 until 2013 they had won 6 divisional championships. In Chinese culture, orange indeed is the color of transformation. Yellow is the color of perfection and nobility signifying light. Red is the color of happiness and power signifying fire.

A fusion of the two is considered to represent transformation and harmony. The One Penny Orange is one of the rarest postage stamps in the world.

It depicts the head of Queen Victoria and was issued by the British Commonwealth territory of Mauritius in September of 1847. At auction this little stamp went for an amazing sum of four million dollars back in 1993.
7. Which of the following colored items, a color synonymous to royalty, has a significant haunting contribution to Luigi's mansion in the Super Mario universe?

Answer: Purple Mouse

Indeed in the Super Mario universe, purple mice are ghosts that plague Luigi's mansion. Along with their colleagues, the blue mice, they run up and down the walls causing damage to Luigi and slamming doors. Away from video games, purple is associated with royalty. Purple was the color worn by Roman emperors and later members of the Catholic church.

It was often very difficult to manufacture purple garments which also made their ownership more prestigious.
8. The state bird of Missouri has primarily what color hue upon its chest?

Answer: Red

The Eastern bluebird became the official state bird of Missouri in 1927. It is a small thrush and is characterized as being a medium-sized songbird. The bird is primarily blue with a reddish-orange chest. They have a large round head that sits upon a compact body with a short tail.
9. Which of the following colors, the color of Mona Lisa's gown and the traditional color of Islam, was at one time believed to be representative of Australia and Oceania as a color of the Olympic rings?

Answer: Green

The interlocking Olympic rings have come to represent the ideal that all nations are welcomed into the family of the Olympic movement. The Olympic Charter did have symbolism of the rings related to the five regions of the world. Before 1951, there was an official handbook claiming that blue was representative of Europe, yellow for Asia, black for Africa, red for the Americas, and green for Australia.

In later years this delineation was removed from the official handbook. Leonardo da Vinci's 16th-century masterpiece is indeed wearing green robes suggestive of gentry, not nobility. Green is also the traditional color of Islam and is a popular color on the flags of many Islamic countries such as Saudi Arabia and Pakistan.
10. Lastly, what color of the rainbow was a 1997 off-Broadway musical, a DC comics superhero, and the nickname of the sports teams at New York University?

Answer: Violet

The color violet takes its name from the violet flower that is a bluish-purple color. Violet is also the color of lavender and amethysts. In 1997, the musical "Violet" appeared off-Broadway and was revived in 2014. It is based on the short story, "The Ugliest Pilgrim" by Doris Betts.

The story follows a disfigured young woman from North Carolina to Tulsa, Oklahoma in a quest to become healed from her ailment. DC comics also use Violet for a character. First appearing in 1961, Violet has the ability to shrink in size. Finally, the great New York University, and NCAA Division III institution, sponsors 23 sports and dresses its teams in Mayflower violet and white.

Although they are known as the violets, the male athletes are excited about the fact the official mascot has now become the bobcat.
