Orange is the colour of the Dutch Royal Family who are descended from William of Orange and the colour has come to symbolise the Netherlands. It is worn with pride by many Dutch international sports teams and by Dutch citizens on public holidays.

There were other chemicals used as weapons in the Vietnam War, and to distinguish between them they were shipped in drums with different coloured stripes on them to identify each one. The other chemicals were called Agents Blue, Pink, Green, Purple and White.

The Orange Free State was a province in South Africa from 1910-1994. It took its name from the Orange River which is the longest river in South Africa. The river was named by a commander of the Dutch East India Company to honour the Dutch Royal House. After 1994 the Orange Free State was renamed the Free State.
