Answer: garlic

Garlic is, of course, the "stinking rose". Can't imagine cooking without it, but just make sure you feed your partner the same food, then neither of you should be offended by the odour. Stinkweed has a skunk-like smell, but not so much so that it's totally unbearable and besides, lately it's being touted as the "newest big thing" in biofuels. Onions and cauliflower contain moderate levels of sulphur and therefore can be smelly, but there's nothing quite like garlic for lasting pungency.

Answer: red fox

Red fox urine is very pungent and has a distinctly skunk-like odour. You can actually buy the stuff in bottles (sheesh, can you imagine working for that company?) for use as a "masking scent" for hunters, or as a "pest" deterrent/repellent (squirrels supposedly HATE the smell).

Answer: stinky feet

Bromhydrosis = hyperhydrosis (excessive sweating) + really bad odour (usually caused by bacteria or fungus). The same term could theoretically be applied to under-arm odour (B.O.) except that high levels of infectious and/or parasitic organisms are more likely to be present on feet than in armpits.

"Filthy stinking rich" people probably smell pretty good, but the animals which are made into their fur coats certainly don't. In fact, the word mink is derived from a Scandinavian term meaning "smelly animal". If you stink like a mink, you smell somewhat like a huge pile of rotting onions.

Otorrhea is a smelly discharge from the ear. Mephitis is the term for the fumes created by decaying substances or the gases from the bowels of the earth. Anosmia is the total loss of smell (a condition which could come in handy with the rest of these questions lol).

Vultures smell bad enough as it is, seeing as how they have their heads buried in decomposing carcasses most of the time. They also vomit highly acidic digestive juices as a defense mechanism when they are threatened.

Odour bombs are on the verge of becoming the "new wave" in "humane" crowd control. Disabling/disorienting rioting people by making them feel extremely nauseous is considered to be better than tear gas or pepper sprays because there are no long-term after effects. Almost every scent known to man can be chemically reproduced these days.

Answer: durian

The durian is extremely popular in eastern Asia despite the fact that the smell has been described by many as a combination of vomit and dirty socks. If you can get past the odour, the TASTE of fruit is supposed to be delicious, rather like vanilla ice cream. I wouldn't know and since I have an overly sensitive sense of smell, I don't think I'll be trying this fruit anytime soon. Bring on the Haagen-dazs instead!

Apparently if the female porcupine doesn't run away after that, it's a "yes" signal. It's logical to think that porcupine romances are often "thorny", but smelly too? This gives a whole other meaning to the term "Eau de Toilette".

Answer: Taz (Tasmanian Devil)

Everybody knows skunk spray is horrible, but when it comes to ferocity AND stench factor, "Taz" beats "Pepe" hands-down. According to both National Geographic and the Discovery Channel, the Tasmanian devil is the number one stinkiest animal on the planet. I'm glad I wasn't a member of the teams who had to do the research.
