Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. The meat of this animal is halal (permissible) for Muslims but is not considered kosher in Judaism. Which animal produces milk that is used to treat malnutrition in babies in some countries?

Answer: Camel

Camels are ungulates that either have one hump (dromedary) or two humps (Bactrian). Though it is believed that their ancestors originated in North America, modern camels are native to the Middle East, Central Asia, and Somalia. They are part of the camelid family, which also includes llamas and alpacas. Scientists have managed to artificially inseminate a female camel to cross it with a llama, and call the offspring a 'cama'.

Camel milk has lots of nutrients and can sustain a person throughout the day. It has less lactose than cow's milk, but it has higher levels of potassium, iron, magnesium, and other minerals. Because of this, it works well to combat malnutrition in babies.
