Oaxaca is in the southern part of Mexico and its capital city is Oaxaca. The state of Oaxaca is well-known for its handicrafts and artisan work, including black clay ceramics and leather goods. Monte Albán is a famous pre-Columbian archaeological site found in the state of Oaxaca.

It is home to the monuments known as the 'Danzantes'(dancers) because of their appearance. Oaxaca is also known for its 'mole negro', a traditional indigenous dish made with chilis and chocolate.
