Margaret Atwood, the author of "The Handmaid's Tale", a Canadian, won the Booker Prize in 2000 for "The Blind Assassin".

Margaret Mitchell, from Atlanta, Georgia, only published "Gone With the Wind" in her lifetime, winning the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction in 1937.

Brooklyn-born Margaret Wise Brown's 1942 publication, "The Runaway Bunny", illustrated by Clement Hurd, has been in print ever since and loved by generations of children and parents.

Steven Patrick Morrissey was born in Manchester in 1959. He met Johnny Marr in 1982 and they formed a band called The Smiths, which was one of the most successful British indie groups of all time. When the group split in 1987, Morrissey went solo, releasing eleven albums until the late nineties, when he took a break. He returned to recording with 'You Are the Quarry' in 2004 and experienced renewed and continued acclaim.

He has been a forthright advocate of animal rights, and made controversial statements on many other issues.

She was born when Vulcan cracked open Jupiter's head. He had swallowed her mother, Metis after she became pregnant. Her symbol was an owl.

William Topaz McGonagall (1825-1902) wrote over 200 poems. He has a legendary status for the unintentionally comic effect of his versification.

An example from 'The Tay Bridge Disaster, which he wrote in 1880 after the tragic disaster of 1879 where 75 lives were lost because of the collapse of a railway bridge.

She had a very successful stage career which she combined with a movie career starting in 1956. In the 1969 movie "The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie", she played a schoolteacher who encouraged her girls to be the CREME DE LA CREME(3). It gained her an Oscar for best actress.

A second Academy Award followed, this time for best supporting actress in 1978's 'CALIFORNIA(4) Suite.

She played a nun in the 1992 hit 'SISTER(5) Act' and its inevitable 1993 sequel.

The role of MINERVA(6) MCGONAGALL(7) in the 'Harry Potter' series of movies from 2001 to 2011 introduced her to a new generation of filmgoers.

Further success came in TV's 'Downton Abbey' where she stole every scene as VIOLET(8) Crawley, The Dowager Countess of GRANTHAM(9).

Maggie Smith became a Dame in 1990 and a Member of the Order of the Companions of Honour in 2014.
