During the first weekend in June, Collinsville hosts the "International Horseradish Festival". You can participate in the root toss, the root sacking event, the bloody mary contest or the Little Miss Horseradish Pageant. Collinsville claims to produce 85% of the world's horseradish supply.

It is also home to a 170 foot tall water tower shaped like a bottle of ketchup that is said to be the world's largest ketchup bottle.
2. Which Indiana town is the "Popcorn Capital of the World"? It also shares its name with the eighth president of the United States.

Answer: Van Buren

Van Buren calls itself the "Popcorn Capital of the World" largely due to it being the home of the Weaver Popcorn Company. The Popcorn Festival happens every August and features a popcorn parade, a kernel 5K race, a baby parade and a scarecrow contest.

La Cross, Kansas calls itself the Barbed Wire Capital of the World. In the 1960s it became the regional center for barbed wire collecting. This resulted in the establishment of the Kansas Barbed Wire Museum which currently houses over 2,000 different kinds of barbed wire. The museum is also the home to the Antique Barbed Wire Society, which is an international organization "committed to collecting, preserving, exhibiting, and interpreting the historical heritage of barb wire and barbed wire related items." Mercer, Wisconsin has the highest concentration of common loons in the world, so they have claimed the title the "Loon Capital of the World". The town has a 16 foot tall statue of a loon called "Claire de Loon". They host Loon Day with arts and crafts, a street dance and a loon calling contest.

Dahmer and Gein were serial killers from Milwaukee and Plainfield respectively.

Douglas, Wyoming is the birthplace of the legend of the jackalope so it also claims the title of world capital. The elusive jackalope was first spoken of in 1932. The jackalope is a mythical creature that is a mix between a jack rabbit and an antelope. Douglas is the site of several monuments to the critter including the world's tallest jackalope statue at 13 feet. The chamber of commerce offers hunting licenses but they are only good for the two hour season on June 31. (Yes that is right, June 31 is the only day you may hunt jackalopes).

Laramie is the home of the University of Wyoming whose football stadium is at an altitude of 7,200 feet above sea level.

Oxnard produces about one third of California's total crop of strawberries and California produces about 85% of the United States crop. The California Strawberry Festival is put on each May and features all sorts of strawberry treats, for example: strawberry nachos, strawberry pizza, strawberry champagne and strawberry funnel cake.

There are also a variety of contest, such as: the berry best hat contest, the berry best dressed baby contest and the strawberry shortcake eating contest.

Some of the events include: the pumpkin pie eating contest, pumpkin bingo, pumpkin decorating contest and the pumpkin princess pageant.
