Percy made his first appearance in the Reverend W. Awdry's "Railway Series" in book no. 5, "Troublesome Engines". He has his own book (no. 11 in the series) entitled "Percy The Small Engine". Reverend Awdry argued with the original illustrator of the books, saying that he had made Percy look "like a caterpillar with green stripes".

"George of the Jungle" was produced by Walt Disney Pictures and adapted from a 1967 cartoon series. George is a character who has grown up in the jungle away from human contact.

A somewhat disappointing sequel, imaginatively titled "George of the Jungle 2", was released straight to video in 2003. The film was somewhat hampered by not having Brendan Fraser in the title role.

Eighteen people died in Hurricane Bob and it caused approximately $1.5 billion worth of damage. The name "Bob" for a hurricane was retired in 1992. Hurricane Bill occurred near the Bahamas in 1997, Hurricane Beth occurred in 1971 and Hurricane Betty occured in the 1972 hurricane season.

Kylie also has her own range of lingerie called "Love Kylie".

Kylie first came to the public attention in the UK in 1986, appearing as Charlene in the TV soap "Neighbours". Her first chart hit was "The Locomotion" in 1987. This was swiftly followed by "I Should Be So Lucky".

By 1991, Kylie was the only act in the 20th century to have her first thirteen records reach the top ten in the UK charts.

Edmund Percival Hillary and Tenzing Norgay became the first men to reach the summit of Mount Everest.

Hillary also took part in an expedition to reach the South Pole in January 1958. In 1985 he accompanied Neil Armstrong on a flight which landed at the North Pole. He thus became the first person to have stood on both poles as well as the summit of Everest, which must surely have given him bragging rights at his local.
7. The Babington Plot was a plot to murder which Queen of England?

Answer: Queen Elizabeth I

In 1586 Anthony Babington, a Catholic nobleman, led a plot to assassinate Elizabeth and replace her with the captive Mary, Queen of Scots. The plot was discovered and the conspirators, including Mary, were executed. Mary Queen of Scots was executed at Fotheringay Castle on 8th February 1587.
8. Jane Austen's novels are set during which period of English history?

Answer: Regency

The Regency period covers the 1811-1820. King George III was unable to rule and his son George became Prince Regent and reigned instead. The Prince Regent reigned in his own right as George IV from 1820-1830. After that his brother William ruled as William IV until 1837, when Queen Victoria came to the throne.

Jon Kipling died during the Battle of Loos, which was fought between 25th-28th September 1915. The British suffered approximately 50,000 casualties during this battle.
