Watford Gap was the first motorway service station in the UK, and a place to stop on a long journey which takes in the M1 motorway.

Answer: .ac.uk

"ac" refers to an ACademic institution. "co" refers to a COmmercial organisation. The other two I just made up.

Answer: Special Boat Service

The British government once denied the existence of the SAS, but after public successes, were eventually left with no option but to confirm this.

Sorry, but this one's a trick question. "Nelson's Column" is located in Trafalgar Square, but there is no "Norman's Column".

The first two times, London saved the Olympics from near extinction after taking them on at short notice. Finally in 2012 the city was given the chance to host the games with full preparation.

Actually, Lineker was born in 1960, and Deacon was in 1951.

The first commercial flight was in 1952, but the prototype flew in 1949.

Yes, the phrase "Can I have a pee please, Bob?" was a question contestants on "Blockbusters" asked host Bob Holness. Incidentally, Holness is often cited as the first actor to play James Bond, however, he was actually the second.
10. The Falklands War was fought against which country?

Answer: Argentina

Neither country invaded each other's homeland. The Falklands war was a long-standing dispute over islands to the east of Argentina. Following announced budget cuts to the UK's armed forces, the Argentinian government believed they could take and hold the islands, however, they did so before the cuts were actually implemented, and a British task force eventually recaptured the islands.
