The American war comedy-drama series "M.A.S.H" (1972-1983) used the Korean War as the backdrop for the doctors and nurses of the Mobile Army Surgical Hospital. The main characters are Capt. "Hawkeye" Pierce (Alan Alda) and Capt. B. J. Hunnicut (Mike Farrell). The series was based on the 1970 movie of the same name with the main characters being portrayed by Donald Sutherland and Elliott Gould.

The 1959 movie was nominated for 12 Academy Awards winning 11.

Edgar Wallace (1875-1932) was a English writer, journalist, novelist and screenwriter. He was a war correspondent during the Second Boer War in South Africa. He wrote the novel "The Four Just Men" which was adapted into movies in 1921, 1939 and into a British TV Series in 1959. He also has the distinction of creating "King Kong" as a movie in 1933 with Merian C. Cooper. Pamela Wallace (b. 1949) is an American author and screenwriter. She has written numerous novels but also won an Academy Award as the co-writer of the screenplay for the 1985 thriller, "Witness" starring Harrison Ford.
Irving Wallace (1916-1990) was an American author and screenwriter. He is a best-selling author with "The Chapman Report" (1960), "The Prize"(1962), " \The Man" (1964), "The Word" (1972) and "The Fan Club" (1974). Many of his novels have been adapted into films.

He started as an extra in 1925 and appeared in numerous films as an extra or small bit parts. His first break came in 1935 with a small part in a Gary Cooper movie. The following year he won his first Oscar in "Come and Get It". He was successful again in 1938 and 1940.

He was nominated again in 1941 in "Sergeant York" but lost out to Donald Crisp in "How Green Was My Valley". In later years he is fondly remembered as Grandpa Amos McCoy in the television comedy " The Real McCoys" (1957-1962).
