The Bakwena are a large tribe of Southern Africa - "those who venerate the crocodile." Part of the SeSotho-SeTswana people, they are found elsewhere in Africa as well as Botswana, including Lesotho, South Africa, Zimbabwe and Eswatini.

Molepolole is located about 50 kilometres away from Botswana's capital, Gaborone.
