Mount Entoto is the highest peak of the Entoto Mountains, which is north of the capital, Addis Ababa. Addis Ababa is the highest capital in Africa.

The mountain features one of the former summer houses of King Menelik II, who was Emperor of Ethiopia from 1889 until 1913. Menelik II is widely revered in Ethiopia, and he is honored with the annual memory of the Battle of Adwa, where the Ethiopians fought and won against invading Italy.

The town of Lalibela is situated in the Amhara Region, of northern Ethiopia. Most of the population adhere to the Ethiopian Orthodox Christian Church, and the town is one of the holiest places for Christians in Ethiopia.

Jijiga has been the capital of the Somali region since 1995; the capital of the region previously was the city of Godey. Jijiga is situated on the main road between the Ethiopian city of Harar, and the Somali city of Hargeisa.

The Simien Mountains are located in northern Ethiopia. Ras Dashen is around 14,930 feet high. The Simien Mountains are home to a number of endangered species, such as the Semien Fox, Walia Ibex, and the Gelada Baboon.

The Tekezé river is around 380 miles long. It is mentioned as early as 80 BC- 960 AD as the Kingdom of Aksum, an area which spanned northern Ethiopia, Eritrea, eastern Sudan and eastern and southern areas of Yemen.

In 1936, Ethiopia was in the grip of the Second Italo-Ethiopian War. Thousands of Ethiopian soldiers were killed as they retreated across the Tekezé, as the Italians attacked them with bombs and mustard gas.

Church of Our Lady Mary of Zion is an Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church, one of the few Christian denominations of Sub-Saharan Africa in existence before European colonization of Africa.

Lake Tana is also the source of the Blue Nile river. Lake Tana is just over 40 miles wide and 50 miles long. The deepest parts are around 50 miles deep. From Lake Tana the Blue Nile river travels around 900 miles through Ethiopia, and neighbouring Sudan.

The Amhara Region Region of northern Ethiopia not only contains the country's largest lake, but also the country's highest mountain. The Amhara Region borders the country of Sudan to the north-west and west.

Answer: Erta Ale

Erta Ale is situated in north-eastern Ethiopia, in the Afar Region and is just over 2,000 feet high. The summit contains one or sometimes more lava lakes at the summit, which is a large amount of molten lava. This usually forms from volcanoes consisting of basaltic rock (a fine-grained igneous rock) which Erta Ale is.

Erta Ale is a shield volcano, which is a volcano composed almost completely of lava flow, and is named so for its resemblance to a warrior's shield when laid on the ground.

Answer: Mount Fentale

Over 400 bird species have been observed in the Awash National Park. This includes the great ostrich and the Abyssinian ground hornbill. Cheetahs, leopards and Zebras also live in this park.

At around 6,600 feet high, Mount Fentale is the highest point of the Fentale district (or "woreda") of the Oromia Region, Ethiopia.

Like many other inhabited places in Ethiopia, Bishoftu is situated at about 6,300 feet high. It is situated around 30 miles southeast of Addis Ababa.

Bishoftu is situated on a volcanic field (a region of the Earth's crust that is prone to volcanic activity) and five crater lakes are in the vicinity because of this.

Hadar is an archaeological site in Afar Region, Ethiopia.

Dikika did have a similar find, a hominid named "Selam" whose fossilized skull and other parts were found in 2000. This is the skull of a three year old female, and has been nicknamed "Lucy's baby." However, these remains have been carbon dated to around at 3.3 million years ago - around 120,000 years older than "Lucy."

"Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds" by the Beatles was blasting after the excavation of the remains at the camp, which is how "Lucy" got her new name. Her preserved remains are displaced in the National Museum of Ethiopia in Addis Ababa, as one of the most well preserved and complete set of hominid fossils known.

Answer: Cave

The Sof Omar is the longest cave of Ethiopia, and possibly in Africa. It is around 9.5 miles long and is located in the Oromia Region of south-east Ethiopia.

Answer: Somalia

Ethiopia's border with Somalia is to the east, and is not clearly defined in length, as Somalia and Ethiopia frequently disagree about this. There have been regular conflicts over this border.

To the north-east Ethiopia also borders the unrecognised state of Somaliland.

Ethiopia borders Djibouti and Eritrea to the north. The Djibouti-Ethiopia border is around 230 miles long, and runs from the tripoint with Eritrea via the Mousa Ali mountain, to the tripoint with Somalia. Its border with Eritrea is around 570 miles long. Ethiopia and Eritrea have also had conflicts over their border.

Ethiopia borders Kenya to the south, the border being around 530 miles long.

Ethiopia borders South Sudan to the west, and Sudan to the north-west but these borders are yet to be clearly defined, due to the countries disputing over who owns which areas.

Each birr divides into 100 santims, and gets its name from a local word for "silver."

In 1905, Menelik II worked with a European banking group to establish the Bank of Abyssinia - Abyssinia being what Ethiopia was then named, after an Empress of the Holy Roman Empire. But in 1931, Ethiopian Emperor Haile Selassie bought and renovated the Bank of Abyssinia, renaming it the "National Bank of Ethiopia." Ethiopia was what the country was known as, for 1,600 years. He wanted both the bank of the country, and the country itself, to be recognised as "Ethiopia" as opposed to its exonym, "Abyssinia."
