1. How do you say "Slovakia" in Slovak?

Answer: Slovensko

We say "Slovensko" or sometimes "Slovenska Republika".
2. What is the name of the Slovak anthem?

Answer: Nad Tatrou sa blýska (Lightning over the Tatras)

The text was written by Janko Matúska in 1844, but the melody was taken from the folk song Kopala studienku (She was digging a little well). It became popular during the Slovak Volunteer campaigns of 1848/1849.

The capital city is Bratislava. It's also country's largest city and it is in the west of Slovakia. In the east other large cities include Kosice, Michalovce and Presov. Bratislava is often called "Beauty on the Danube" or "City of Peace".

There are only 8 regions in Slovakia. Since 1949 (except 1990-1996), Slovakia has been divided into eight regions. Their names are: Bratislavský, Trnavský, Trenčiansky, Nitriansky, Zilinský, Banskobystrický, Presovský, Kosický.

Answer: Hungarian

That's because it's near the border between Slovakia and Hungary. Slovakia borders with five states: Czech Republic, Austria, Ukraine, Poland and Hungary. The longest borderline is Hungarian and the shortest is with Ukraine.
6. Of the following, who isn't a famous Slovakian hockey player?

Answer: Peter Dvorský

Peter Dvorský isn't a hockey player but an opera singer. His career began in 1978 at the Slovak National Theatre, Bratislava. Since than he has performed in more than 25 countries in the world.

Answer: True

Váh is the longest Slovak river. Its two sources, the Biely Váh (White Váh) and the Čierny Váh (Black Váh), are located in the High Tatras and Low Tatras mountains.
8. The Tatra Mountains form a border with what other country?

Answer: Poland

The Tatra Mountains, Tatras or Tatra (Tatry in both Slovak and Polish), constitute a mountain range which forms a natural border between Slovakia and Poland.
9. How high is the highest point in Slovakia?

Answer: 2,655 metres

The highest point is named Gerlach Peak. It's a part of the Sierra Tatry. You can find it in the town named Poprad (in northern Slovakia).
10. Which of these villages is not Slovak?

Answer: Temerin

Temerin is a village of the state Vojvidina which is an autonomous province in Serbia not Slovakia.
