Chennai was previously called Madras. It lies in the eastern coast of the southern state of Tamil Nadu. It is one of the earliest metropolitans in the country and is the biggest city in the state. It is a coastal city which boasts many beaches. The ECR or East Coast Road that links Chennai to Mamallapuram and Pondicherry is a brilliant road that is laid along the coast of Tamil Nadu. Coovum and Adyar rivers flow through this city. Chennai is a city that gets plenty of rainfall during the rainy seasons but can get pretty hot during the summer.

This mountain range, the Himalayas houses the tallest peak in the world, Mount Everest. It also has other tall peaks like Kangchenjunga and Manaslu, some of which rank amongst the tallest in the world. This range runs across India, Pakistan, Nepal, China and Bhutan.

The Brahmaputra and the Yamuna have their origin amongst this range of mountains. A varied spectrum of flora and fauna are found living along the stretch of these mountains.

This desert belong to a class of deserts called subtropical deserts. Temperatures in this desert can go as high 75-80 degrees Fahrenheit.

The length of the glacier is around 30 kilometers, which is massive. Many pilgrims make the long trek to bathe in the rejuvenating, cold waters flowing from the Gangotri glacier.

This wonderful sight is located in the state of Maharashtra which has Mumbai (previously Bombay) as its capital. It is one of the largest states in India by way of size and population. Other well known cities in Mumbai are Pune and Nagpur. The beautiful Lonar Crater Lake is an oval, saline lake that was formed after impact by a meteor at its site.

Thermoluminescence analysis was used to estimate the age of the lake and it is apparently more than 45,000 years old. Plenty of dense trees have covered the slope around the lake. You can also find structures like the Shankar Ganesh Temple in close proximity to the lake.
