Answer: Danube

Rising in the Black Forest in Germany and flowing over 1700 miles across Europe to the Black Sea, the Danube is a major European transport corridor. Various canals along its length, and the Rhine-Main-Danube canal, create a navigable waterway from the North Sea to the Black Sea. It has been featured in art, film, song and story - perhaps the most well-known piece being Johann Strauss' lovely waltz "An der schönen, blauen Donau" (usually called "The Blue Danube Waltz").

Feldkirchen an der Donau is a small town set in farmland and woodland a short distance from the Danube; the industrial city of Linz is known for steel production, and is the home of the PEZ candy company (take some with you - there should be enough room in the envelope for you and a PEZ dispenser!).

Answer: North Sea

The Meuse flows on through The Netherlands after leaving Belgium, forming part of the border between the two countries; the Dutch name for the river is the Maas (the city of Maastricht is on the river), and at the Harvingvliet, a large sea inlet, the Maas/Meuse finally reaches the North Sea.

Lives-sur-Meuse is in sloping woodland on the outskirts of the Belgian city of Namur which has been an important trading centre since Celtic and Roman times. On to your next destination...

The beautiful city of Praha (Prague), capital of the Czech Republic, is on the River Vltava (Moldau) which flows northwards to join the Labe (Elbe). Prague is built on seven or nine hills (sources vary), like Rome and several other ancient settlements, and is a popular choice for moviemakers because of its established infrastructure, economy and interesting architecture.

Answer: Řresund

As well as the eastern part of the island of Zealand, the Danish capital city of Křbenhavn (Copenhagen) spreads over several other small islands, and is renowned for its extensive system of cycle paths.

The Řresund is the narrow stretch of water that separates Zealand from Sweden; it joins the Baltic Sea with the Kattegat, which is the body of water between northern Denmark and Sweden. The Gulf of Bothnia is the narrow arm of the Baltic Sea to the east of Sweden.

The Baltic state of Estonia, like the nearby country of Finland, is a land of many lakes. It is flattish, but becomes hillier towards the south-east where its highest point is found - Great Egg Hill, 1043 feet (318 metres) above sea level.

Tallinn, the capital city, is located on the shore of the Gulf of Finland (the large north-eastern inlet of the Baltic Sea), and has become known as a centre for information technology development.

Most of the Champagne-producing villages in the Aube department are located roughly to the south and east of the city of Troyes, but you will find a few - notably Montgueux and Villenauxe la Grande - to the northwest of Troyes.

Saint-Martin-de-Bossenay is set in farmland northwest of Troyes, but is not a Champagne producing village. Please do not take any Champagne with you as you continue your journey - your envelope will get soggy!

Answer: Black Forest

The river Danube rises from two streams in the Schwarzwald (Black Forest) region of southern Germany: the longer of the two, the Breg, rises near Furtwangen im Schwarzwald, and the shorter, the Brigach, at Sankt Georgen im Schwarzwald. The two join at the city of Donaueschingen to become the Danube (Donau) which flows on for 1777 miles (2860km) through Germany, Austria, Slovakia, Hungary, Croatia, Serbia, Romania, Bulgaria, Moldova, and Ukraine to its outlet in the Black Sea.

Lenting is situated on the outskirts of the city of Ingolstadt in Upper Bavaria. Ingolstadt is the headquarters of several major companies, including automobile manufacturers Audi, and was the place where Mary Shelley's fictional character Victor Frankenstein attended university.

Answer: Arable and livestock farming

The town of Kiskunfélegyháza is located on the Southern Great Plain of Hungary, an area noted for arable and livestock farming (fruits, vegetables, cereals, pigs, cattle, sheep). Much of Hungary is low-lying fertile plain country eminently suitable for arable farming; the climate is described as continental - that is, with cold winters and warm to hot summers.

Not far from Kiskunfélegyháza is Kiskunsági Nemzeti Park (the Kiskunság National Park) which is a UNESCO biosphere reserve. Biosphere reserves include several different ecosystems: Kiskunsági contains grassy plains, sand dunes, marshes, and alkali lakes and is a stopover point for many migratory birds.

Answer: Mont Blanc

The Mont Blanc Tunnel runs for 7.25 miles (11.6km) under the Alps from Chamonix in France to Courmayeur in Italy and is a major road freight route for Italian exports. In 1999, a fire in the tunnel killed 39 people and the subsequent investigation and manslaughter trial resulted in substantial renovations and many additional security features.

Courmayeur itself is a picturesque mountain town and popular skiing resort located at the foot of Mont Blanc. It boasts the highest botanical gardens in Europe, the Giardino Botanico Alpino Saussurea, at 7129 feet (2173m) above sea level.

Answer: California

Area 101 is located on Highway 101 near Laytonville, California, USA. It is a centre for alternative lifestyles or, in the words of its webpage "a spiritual sanctuary and event center", sponsoring events such as raves. Paranormal phenomena such as sightings of UFOs and of Bigfoot-like creatures have been reported in the area.
