Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. What is NOT true about the Monte Carlo Casino, Monaco's most famous attraction?

Answer: Ian Fleming set his first James Bond novel "Casino Royale" at the casino.

Ian Fleming actually set "Casino Royale" at a fictional casino modeled after the Monte Carlo, although Monte Carlo has been used since in a number of Bond films and media.

When Princess Caroline conceived the idea of the casino, she was a morally uptight person and believed foreigners should gamble to increase revenue and the prestige of Monaco but citizens should refrain from doing so. The policy of banning citizens from the casino is strictly enforced. The 1913 event in which black came up twenty-six times in a row on a roulette wheel caused many wealthy people to lose millions of dollars as they incorrectly assumed that red would turn up after the series of black. However, black and red have an equal chance of coming up as there are the same number of black spaces as red spaces, no matter how many times the wheel previously landed on black.
2. What is the name of the track that hosts the annual Monaco Grand Prix?

Answer: Circuit de Monaco

The Monaco Grand Prix is one of the most famous motorcar races in the world. It is part of the Triple Crown of Motorsport, along with the Indy 500 and the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Circuit de Monaco passes through Monte Carlo and passes by many of the Monaco's most famous sites, including the casino.

Francesco Grimaldi was able to conquer it around 1300 by pulling a Trojan horse. He gained access to the walled city by pretending he was a monk and then he let in his soldiers. It has been in Grimaldi possession ever since.
