Answer: True

The Los Angeles River starts at an elevation of 772ft (235m) at Canoga Park and ends at Long Beach where it empties into the Pacific Ocean. Due to a series of devastating and lethal floods much of the river has been contained in channels built over the years. Its total length is a mere 51 miles or 82 kilometers.
4. The Los Angeles community of Encino was saddened in 1998 by the death of a 1,000 year old tree knocked over by a storm. What sort of tree was felled by wild weather that night?

Answer: Oak

Encino is said to take its name from the Spanish word "encina" meaning "live oak" or "evergreen oak". The tree in question was estimated to be 1,000 years old. It was a local landmark, designated a Historic-Cultural Monument, and a tourist attraction as it may have been the oldest tree in the Los Angeles area.

It had been ill in the years prior to its death but a storm uprooted the massive oak which had a bough spread of 150 feet.
5. This city has a name that suggests it is or was known for having fruit trees... since it is also the name for the Roman deity that presided over fruit trees.
