Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Union Station

Answer: Alameda St

Union Station is the largest passenger rail terminal on the west coast of the United States, with over 110,000 people moving through every day. It sits just across the street from El Pueblo de Los Angeles State Historic Park.
2. Twentieth Century Fox Film Corporation

Answer: Pico Blvd

Fox nearly went bankrupt twice. The first was because making 1963's "Cleopatra", starring Elizabeth Taylor, ended up costing nearly triple the original budget and took over five years to complete. The second time was due to several expensive movies that fared poorly at the theaters.

It was saved by 1974's "The Towering Inferno", and became hugely profitable with the release of "Star Wars".
3. Sherman Oaks Galleria

Answer: Sepulveda Blvd

The Galleria is famous for appearing in the movie "Terminator 2: Judgement Day", where John Connor first meets both Terminators, and is the start of the classic chase scene through the Los Angeles River (or viaduct if you prefer).
4. Ambassador Hotel

Answer: Wilshire Blvd

The Ambassador Hotel hosted the 2nd and 12th Academy Awards, and was the location of Robert Kennedy's assassination. The hotel went into decline after Robert Kennedy's assassination, and growing gang and drug problems in the 1970's hastened its demise. By 1989, it was used exclusively for filmmaking, and in 2005, was demolished.
5. Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum

Answer: Figueroa St

The Coliseum boasts it is the only stadium to hold two Olympic Games (X and XXIII), two Super Bowls (I and VII), one World Series (1959), visits by three U.S. presidents (Presidents Kennedy, Nixon, and Reagan), and a Papal Mass (given by Pope John Paul II).
6. Los Angeles California Temple

Answer: Santa Monica Blvd

The Los Angeles California Temple was announced in 1937, but financial difficulties from the last few years of the Great Depression and then World War II delayed construction until 1951. When completed in 1956, it was the largest Mormon temple in the country.
7. Inglewood Park Cemetery

Answer: Manchester Ave

The cemetery opened in 1905. Many famous people are buried in Inglewood Park Cemetery: Ray Charles, Ella Fitzgerald, Paul Walker, and Betty Grable. Across the street is The Forum, home of the Los Angeles Lakers from 1967 to 1999.
8. Los Angeles City Hall

Answer: Spring St

Until 1964, City Hall was the tallest building in Los Angeles, at 454 feet. Over a four-year period, 1998-2001, the entire building was retrofitted to withstand severe earthquakes. It is claimed the building will survive a magnitude 8.2 earthquake.
9. Grauman's Chinese Theatre

Answer: Hollywood Blvd

Opening in 1927, the theater was renamed "Mann's Chinese Theatre" until 2001, when it reverted to its original name, "Grauman's Chinese Theatre". In 2013, naming rights were bought by TCL Corporation, a Chinese electronics manufacturer, and was renamed "TCL Chinese Theatre" - making it 86 years before the theater had anything to do with China.
10. University of California, Los Angeles

Answer: Sunset Blvd

UCLA is the second-oldest campus in the University of California system, established in 1919. In 2015, it was ranked 12th in the world. From 1971 to 1974, the UCLA Bruins set a NCAA basketball record, winning 88 consecutive games. The record held until 2010, when the University of Connecticut won it's 89th consecutive game.
