The "Guinness Book of Records" has determined that the mouth of the Catatumbo River in Venezuela is the most likely place on Earth to see lightning. That's because cold air from the mountains comes down and meets the heat of the air over Lake Maracaibo resulting in over 100,000 lightning strikes per night.

Caracas suffered devastating earthquakes back in 1755 and 1812. And then as recently as July 29, 1967, while celebrating the 400th anniversary of Captain Diego de Losada founding Caracas, another earthquake struck the city, killing about 500 people.
