Take a Tour in Bosnia and Herzegovina

Answer: Bascarsija

There is so much to see and do and Sarajevo, but the bazaar should be on any tourist list. It was started in 1462 and at one time had over a thousand shops with different crafts. Today the small streets have artisan and souvenir shops as well as many food vendors selling native dishes. Close by is the Gazi Husrev-bey Mosque and the old Sarajevo Clock Tower. The mosque was damaged in the Siege of Sarajevo during the Bosnian War (as was much of Sarajevo), however much has been done to restore it. The Clock Tower doesn't keep local time, but rather lunar time so that locals can time their prayers.
