A landlocked country slightly larger than Texas in southern Africa, the Republic of Zambia has land borders with eight other countries, one less than the Democratic Republic of Congo which has the most neighbours of any African country.

Zambia has borders with the Angola to the west, Democratic Republic of the Congo to the north, Tanzania to the north-east, Malawi to the east, and Mozambique, Zimbabwe, Botswana and Namibia to the south.

Namibia shares land borders with Zambia and Angola to the north, Botswana to the east, and South Africa to the south and east. Only a 200-yard stretch of the Zambezi River stops Namibia also sharing a border with Zimbabwe.
