Henry VII (Tudor) defeated Richard III, Quote 'A horse, a horse, my kingdom for a horse'. The turning point in the battle was when Lord Stanley changed alliance's to the Tudor's. Richard had held his son as a hostage, to ensure Stanley's support. Richard was not the despote that history paints him, a gifted soldier, able monarch but alas a victim of his times.

His statue is in the grounds of the Leicester cathedral.
