Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Homer Simpson was in DENIAL when he thought his family enjoyed living in Alaska.

Answer: Denali

The mountain known as Denali is the tallest in North America. It rises up to a height of approximately 20,300 ft (6,190 m). The mountain is located in southern central part of the State of Alaska, roughly between the cities of Anchorage and Fairbanks.

The name Denali translates to "the tall one" and comes from the language of the Koyukon people who are native to Alaska. The mountain was given its other name, Mount McKinley, in 1896 after the man who would later be elected the 25th President of the United States, William McKinley.
2. It is not wise to drive a SEDAN through the mountains of South America.

Answer: Andes

The Andes Mountains stretch along the western coast of South America from Venezuela in the north down to the southern tip of Chile. The tallest mountain in the Andes range (as well as the entire continent) is Aconcagua, which sits on the border between Chile and Argentina.

It has an elevation of 22,800 ft (6,950 m). Another significant mountain in the Andes range is Chimborazo in Ecuador. It has a height of approximately 20,500 ft (6,250 m). However, due to the bulge of the Earth at the equator, Chimborazo has been declared to be the farthest point from the center of the Earth by scientists.
3. Wolverine could not get ALONG with Cyclops, so he decided to move back to Canada.

Answer: Logan

Mount Logan, with an elevation of approximately 19,500 ft (5,940 m), is the highest mountain in Canada and the second tallest in North America behind Denali. It is located in the southwest corner of the Yukon Territory near the border with Alaska. The mountain was named after Sir William Edmond Logan (1798-1875) who was the founder and director of the Geological Survey of Canada.

In case you missed the hint, the real name of the "Marvel" superhero Wolverine is Logan and he is also Canadian.
4. Countries stopped accepting RUBLES after Russia invaded Ukraine.

Answer: Elbrus

Mount Elbrus is considered to be the tallest mountain in the continent of Europe. It is a dormant volcano that is part of the Caucasus Mountains in Russia, near its border with the country of Georgia. Mount Elbrus is considered to have dual summits. The taller summit is measured at a height of 18,500 ft (5,640 m).

The other one is only about 60 ft (20 m) shorter. It is believed that the name of the mountain came from the extinct Avestan language which was spoken in the region during the Iron Age.
5. My friend and I were splitting HAIRS over who could climb Mt. Kilimanjaro the fastest.

Answer: Shira

Mount Kilimanjaro is the most prominent mountain formation on the continent of Africa. It is located in northern Tanzania and it is considered to be a dormant volcano with three distinct peaks. The tallest of these peaks is Kibo with an elevation of approximately 19,300 ft (5,900 m). Mawenzi is the second highest with an elevation of approximately 16,900 ft (5,150 m) and Shira is the shortest with an elevation of approximately 13,100 ft (3,990 m).

The name Kilimanjaro is believed to come from the Kiswahili language, but its etymology is often debated.
6. I bought tickets to see the Dodgers play in California, I sure hope THEY WIN.

Answer: Whitney

Mount Whitney can be found within the Sierra Nevada mountain range in central California, roughly 90 mi (145 km) east of the city of Fresno. Answer: Cameroon

Mount Cameroon is one of Africa's tallest active volcanoes. The mountain is also known as Mongo ma Ndemi "Mountain of Greatness" in the native Duala language.

The name Cameroon was derived from the Portuguese name for the Wouri River (Rio dos Camarões / River of Shrimp), which flows through the country.

Answer: Lhotse
