As the country is a parliamentary democracy, a president is the head of state. A prime minister is the head of the government.

Answer: A river

The Principality of Moldavia was founded in 1359. The political center was located in the valley of Moldova River. The origin of the river's name is not clear. One theory is that Prince Dragos named the river for his dog Molda. Molda is reported to have drowned in it after an exhausted hunt.

Moldova does not have large resources of mineral resources. As for natural gas, they have none. Moldova imports over two billion cubic metres of gas per year and produces nil. Agriculture for the country consists of tobacco, wine, fruit and vegetables.

In 2009, in terms of the GDP (Gross Domestic Product), the European Parliament described Moldova as the poorest country in Europe. The fall of the Soviet Union resulted in the economy contracting dramatically and the Global Financial Crisis starting in 2008 has hit the country severely.
